I was at last night's PLK/OJS game. To pick nits, I'd say PLK had too many intercepted passes, and I felt that when it was 4-3 they looked to be on their way to blowing it. They did not.

I also found the PMC to be unusually cold. But an entertaining game-- I'll be back.

Why don't you stick to commenting on the positives of the Nepean Raiders without sounding like you work for the team....oh wait.

Congrats to all the great kids in this league and continued success.

Grabbers your 15 minutes have been up for well over a year now. Please go back into hibernation.

Who works for the team? You constantly relay CP information so just relax zebra. Toss in another "wish everyone success" or try and direct peoples attention elsewhere (poorly as usual).

How about some comments on your loss to the Colts - again. Any inside information to share?

Try using their play as a barometer. So sick of you people trying to make posters feel bad because they criticize the play of a player of a younger age. It makes absolutely no sense.
I agree....CP should start Laforest.

Anyone at the SF game in KV last night. Carroll had a nasty hit with no penalty. The kid left with his face bleeding. I'm a SF fan but I certainly think that was a penalty, and at least 1 to 2 games. The Blais kid was hit from behind, head first into the boards. Vicious and totally irresponsible. Just the kind of crap that needs to be removed from the game at all levels. Glad to see the player return in the third althought he probably should have taken the rest of he night off. Tough boy! Anyone else see this and do you think it should have been a penalty?

CP actually outplayed the Colts but were done in by poor goaltending in the first and the fact that they are missing 4 of their top players (Dufour, Edwards, Smith and Ghantous).

I concur that this was a dangerous hit and was very surprised that the referees did not make any call. Mr. Carroll should have been escorted off the ice. Nor did the referees call Mr. Caroll for running the Kemptville goalie. In today's game, both Mr. Kiristis & Mr. Walters bumped Mr. Carroll after the whistle had sounded when earlier he had rocked a Braves player.

IMO, often referees are opting for the boarding call as opposed to the Check from Behind call. As it is different referees in different game situations, I suspect that the league general managers have stipulated to the referees to back away from having players tossed from a game.

I might sound a bit like Don Cherry here (or even "ZebraCritic"). I never saw Blais hit but it sounds like another botched call. What ever happened to the days of one referee and no video replays. Seems now when all four officials miss a call then they go to league to visit replay. Why can't the officials make the decision. More than once I have seen them wait until they see how bad someone is hurt before deciding if it is 2 or 5. Make the call immediately and stick to it. The other thing that drives me crazy is when they have to have a meeting to discuss what they are going to call. Then to piss the fans off they go to the benches to explain everything. Just make the call and get on with it. Go back to one official (probably save teams money) get rid of video replays ( not the NHL ) and maybe give the players a little more leeway to police themselves. No wonder coaches yell at referees. They don't know what to expect from one game to another. Not to mention that the players certainly don't know what to expect from one shift to another.

I agree with everything you said, prefer one ref system since more consistent calls within a game and overall better quality since not digging as deep into a limited referee pool to find Junior A refs. Only thing I disagree with is that the league should still be doing video review if the ref missed an incident, never hurts to take another look.

After christmas

The talk of the "Real Season", reminded me that I usually divide up the season by three. Before Christmas, After Christmas and the Playoffs (Real Season).
Before Christmas, the winner was Ottawa, over Smith Falls.
Since Christmas, so far, Cornwall is 12-1-2- 866%. Hats off to the Colts. I did not pick them to be strong, I thought this would be a rebuild year, not a reload year. They lost Hafner, Spinks, Borowski? etc. Congratulations to the Club, they play 5 of 6 at home to finish, they will get a top seed.
The Rest (Odviously injuries took a toll on Ottawa)
Brockville-14-3-1-805%
Nepean- 11-4 - 733%
CPC 11-5 - 687%
Ottawa 6-6-4 - 562%
Pembroke 7-7-2 - 500%
Da Bears 6-7-1 - 462%

You have to think Blasko or Ponterelli, both teams have not much depth beyond their top line and these two players have carried their teams and are why they are having success.

My opinion on MVP is definately Ponterelli. As he goes the Colts go. An all around player that also puts up points. Another of my choices would be Kenneth Neil. Does everything.

It's nice to see Neil mentioned, he does do everything. But he splits votes with Hedges. I would like to mention Guerrio in Hawksbury, carries team. Watson in Kanata. But I can't argue with Ponterelli, he's my MVP.

On another Pontarelli note, how does he not win Player of the Week after scoring back to back hat tricks ? I mean Buonicontri is a nice story coming back strong after being out for so long but his 2 games were against Kemptville. Has the CCHL developed an award strategy last seen in elementary school where everyone gets an award/participant ribbon so that no one is offended by giving multiple awards to the same player.
If the player is the best that week he should win regardless of how many other times he may have won the same award that season.

I thought the same thing until I remembered that Cornwall's last game happened on a Monday, so it doesn't count towards last week's games. I'm assuming POW games go from Monday - Sunday.

Yep I am one to admit when I am wrong. Pontarelli's second hat trick came on holiday monday. Oh well he's got a leg up on the POW award this week.

Tks ottawafan66

Pontarelli without a doubt is the league MVP this year. There are certainly others (Blasko, Hedges, Watson, Guerriero, etc...) that warrant consideration but none have done what Pontarelli has done for the Colts this year.

If readers recall - some back in September were predicting the Colts to barely make the playoffs.

Well deserved.

Word is Carroll got two games. Good on the league for the follow-up. I will always cheer my Bears but there has to be some discipline. Seeing as the league gave him two games I guess my assessment was right regarding the hit. If Carroll was a man, he would contact his old teammate, one that served him well, and apologize for the flagrant hit!
