I might have to eat it. I said I didnt think Derozan and Gay can co-exist, I know it was just one night, but they did look good out there running the fast break. I STILL don't think they are great shooters and I think Derozan should be moved while his value is high, I think we might actually NEED Bargnani. He loves the 3 ball, and with Gay and Derozan and Lowry getting into the lane and kicking it out, Bargnani will love it. He can just run to the 3 point line and take shots. I have a bad feeling he will excell in the short period before the dealine and BC won't trade him and then will drop off again.
I really hope I am wrong.

Lowry (26)
Derozan (23)
Gay (26)
A. Johnson (25)
Valanciunas (20)
Ross (21)

Fields/Anderson/Gray/Lucas/Kleiza off the bench. And we can fill up the bench by trading Bargnani for a couple pieces...

This team is looking real good. Young exciting team with tons of potential. Probably the most athletic guard trio in the league (Gay/Derozan/Ross).

If it wasn't for the bad start to the season, I think we'd have a solid shot at the playoffs. Now in order to have any kinda shot to get that 8th seed we'd probably need to win 10 in a row somehow.

Going into next season

After hearing BC talk about how much he loves Derozan, as much as I want him gone, I don't think he is going anywhere. I think he just thinks that Derozan and Gay will continue to work on their shooting and just get better with hard work and experience. He also said very clearly that he wasn't expecting anytime throughout the season to have any cap space in the offseason. He also said that he would go OVER the luxury tax for the first time to acquire the right player. SO this is what I think BC is gonna do.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Toronto- Pau Gasol PF/C and Robert Sacre C

- Get a solid player on a big contract. I guess the thinking is, " If you can't get a #1 option, get three #2's." I think he would excel here, especially if we sign Jose back. Lowry, Gay and Derozan would run the high octane offence and Calderon, Gasol and Valancuinas would run a slower offence. That really messes with teams.

To LA Lakers- Andrea Bargnani PF/C, Landry Fields SF/PF and Future 1st round pick.

- Get 2 players that are young, can run and fit D'Antoni's system perfectly. Get rid of the albatross contract for what is a bench player for their team at this point. Also get a future 1st round pick which will help them offset the whole bunch of 1st's they gave to Phoenix.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amnesty SF Linas Kleiza

- Goodbye, Farewell, hope you spend 20 something million you made here for doing nothing wisely.

Sign PG Jose Calderon with Mid Level Exception

- I think with Pau Gasol on board, and his love for the team and city, I think he would come back in a second. He will see that we are built to win now and he probably won't getting a starting job on most teams. Unless he wants to go to a bottom feeder and make a little bit more money. I don't see him doing that though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PG 48 Minutes
Wing 96 Minutes
FrontCourt 96 Minutes

First Unit

PG- Kyle Lowry (28 Minutes)
SG- Demar Derozan (32 Minutes)
SF- Rudy Gay (32 Minutes)
PF- Pau Gasol (32 Minutes)
C - Jonas Valancuinas (30 Minutes)

Second Unit

PG- Jose Calderon (20 Minutes)
SG- Terrance Ross (24 Minutes)
SF- Alan Anderson (8 Minutes)
PF- Amir Johnson (26 Minutes)
C - Robert Sacre (8 Minutes)

Back Ups

PG- John Lucas
PF- Quincy Acey
SF- Michael Pietrus

As you can tell, I see a mostly 8 man rotation until injuries hit.

8-Man Rotation

Kyle Lowry
Jose Calderon

Demar Derozan
Rudy Gay
Terrance Ross

Pau Gasol
Jonas Valancuinas
Amir Johnson

That is a lot of TALENT if you ask me. Some bad contracts? Yea, but we all know BC is making trades to push things forward to save his job and this is the exact type of trade and team we he will be looking at for better or for worse.

As much of a headcase as Cousins is I feel they could get A LOT more for him than that. I don't think we have the assets to get him. He's an amazing talent and he'd be a top 5 PF in the league if he wasn't so immature and a nutjob.

I would think they'd want a 1st back and a young talent. We don't really wanna give them Ross or J-Val plus a 1st for him do we?

Maybe I'm drastically overvaluing him but he's basically their franchise player as Tyreke has really regressed and Seattle is gonna want a player to market and I don't see Bargs, Tyreke or Kleiza as very marketable.

at this point in time i'd probably keep bargnani for his 3's. He poses a a threat from a distance which we lack. Pau for 1 year does nothing for us... and shedding bargnani for the sake of shedding him is pointless; he isn't THAT bad. Now with gay, we have 2 scoring options... bargnani isn't the only go to.

It clears us a tonne of money off the books for 2014-2015 so we can resign Lowry, Gay and some more depth. Plus it gives us a good mentor for J-Val and a decent PF/C to make a run at the Playoffs next year. I think it would help bring Jose back too if he wanted to be the bonafide backup (to avoid another PG controversy lol) for the MLE or even better the Vet. minimum.

No, that's overpaying. They are clearly going to want Gray to replace Cousins.

Gasol and his expiring contract into next season would be much better for the franchise than Primo and his current contract with his lackluster play.

Are we allowed to trade 1sts? Or not until the Lowry deal is settled?

That's actually a really good question. Given the uncertainty of which season we owe the pick to Hou/OKC, I'd guess that we can't trade a 1st until we fulfil our current obligations. I suppose if we added strict conditions to the pick that don't overlap with our current conditions, it's theoretically possible. I highly doubt it's allowed, though. Pure speculation on my part.

...We really shouldn't, though.

Can't help but wonder what could have been if we had just drafted Gay in 2006.

Gay and Bosh could have been pretty good I think.

Everything I've read says that Cousins is off-limits until the Kings ownership/move issue is completely sorted out. Having a potential trade chip or potential future star player is part of the franchise's valuation for the sale.

Yea I agree with that. The only way I can see Cousins moved out is if he is packaged with some bad contracts to wipe the slate clean and start fresh with new owners. If they could package Demarcus Cousins+John Salmons+Fransisco Garcia to get some young players and picks, I think they might do it. Get rid of like 45 million off their books and get rid of a headcase.

I would like Cousins on this team, but he is high-risk high-reward. He has got major league talent and his offensive skills next to Valancuinas would be pretty nasty. I don't know if we have the pieces to get a deal done. It would have to be a 3 way trade or we would have to give up Bargnani and Derozan. That might be a little much for my taste.

I wish we gave Bosh players like Lowry and Gay. That would have been worth going into the luxury tax. Frustrating how it seems we can acquire B type players when he leaves, but when he was here all we got were the Anthony Parker and Hedo type players.

Bosh, when he was the go to guy here in Toronto, was better than Gay has ever been so far in his career. Neither one is a franchise player.

I hate Heat bandwagon fans with a passion. The Heat struggle to sell out playoff games at home and you get these people cheering at the ACC when they score.
