The Zamboni

The Zamboni made its first NHL appearance in Canada fifty years ago today.

From today's Toronto Sun:

I missed this when you posted it. Here's a link to the official site of the Frank J. Zamboni & Co.

Some interesting Zamboni facts here...i.e.:

Quote:
When the machine resurfaces the ice, it picks up approximately 1500 pounds’ worth of snow, but leaves behind approximately 1200 pounds of water.
Quote:
Why does the Zamboni machine have headlights? Machines may be required to travel over the road at night and many have to leave the arena to dump the snow collection tank.

Raycroft and Bergeron puttering along on the Zakim bridge. Watch out for that falling ice!

In unrelated zamboni news, I hope McDonalds soon stops handing them out in boys happy meals, as my three year old is ready to come unglued if he gets another one.

Seriously though, I came across this one on the "Zamboni Story" section.

Frank, Lawrence, and a cousin built Iceland Skating Rink in Paramount[, California]. (The rink still operates today just blocks from the Zamboni® factory. In fact, it's not unusual to see Zamboni ice resurfacers driving down the neighborhood streets on their way to be tested at Iceland.)
A real life Raycroft and Bergeron situation.

No, I stopped for a while to play in the sandbox.

Actually I only checked your link after I had posted those facts.
