Cody Hodgson has been a bright spot in this young season.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. Let me rephrase ...
ZOMG!!!! the jolly giant absolutely destroyed Thornton. I hope he's ok (after this game)

One scoring chance in 20 minutes.
Another fantastically entertaining period of Sabres hockey.

He was good earlier, he hasn't looked good recently(who has?).
Miller has been stellar this period. We look bad compared to the Bruins.

Decent first period. They played better as the period went on.

Ray is an idiot. Anytime the Sabres don't give up 2+ goals they "played a very good period and did some great things".

Survived 20 minutes. No Sabres died. That's a good period.

lololol so true.
"Great road period by the Sabres" even though they must've had 5x our scoring chances.

On pace to give up 42 shots. Not surprising.

Myers has been a peripheral physical guy. He's really been stepping it up this year in that department. It's not perfectly consistent yet, but there's definitely been an improved effort there.

I was in the car for most of the first period and heard RJ call the Scott fight like this, "They're going to fight. Thornton lost and edge and went down." I thought there were 0 punches. I just looked it up online and see that Scott threw a few, one of which stunned Thonrton behind the ear and a sneaky uppercut that landed solidly. Um, yeah, RJ must be losing his touch. Scott with a nice W.

Getting drastically out-chanced is my definition of a bad period.

Yeah RJ totally blew that one. They grappled, Scott got leverage and punched Thornton in the head 3-4 times and then Thornton fell over. He's obviously a little banged up. RJ just kind of glossed over the whole thing.

Knocking on wood, but I really liked Weber's game on Tuesday and I'm liking it again tonight.
Let's hope he can stay consistent this year, a la Weber of 10-11.
Foligno had a very nice period, but this team is still too easy to play against.

Hardly, Miller made several really good saves. They were running around way too much in their own end, Weber-Sekera especially look rough.

To be fair, getting through a first period on the road in which we had 2 PKs and 0 PPs against the Bruins without giving up any goals is a pretty solid period for Buffalo. That may say more about the quality of our team than the quality of the period, but the score sheet is still clean.
We certainly won't win if we play all 3 periods like that, but they got through it and have 15 minutes to regroup, make adjustments, etc.
