Yeah his call on Grigs first goal was horrible

took them a while to get their legs, really tentive thru the 1st PP. definitely more engaged as the period went on. Thank Miller for 0-0.

Foligno in for Stafford on the PK, maybe take some pressure off of Drew, get some O going.

agreed...
that was not a good period just because numerous quality chances didn't end up in the net

Did the Sabres even possess the puck below the faceoff circles in the offensive zone once?

Is there a good reason for Gerbe only getting 1:31 TOI? Is he not 100%? He hasnt seen much ice since he's returned. He's an offensive threat who never mails a shift in. He should be out there as much as possible

Did my eyes deceive me? Did Myers seriously put a forward on his ass along the boards?

Got handled for the first 10 min but the second 10 evened out. Some stupid passes in the offensive zone, some poor clears, standard Sabres fare. If Miller keeps it up and the refs stop calling bull-****, we might actually pot a lucky goal or two and make it out of this one. Stranger things have happened

Hopefully they build on that come the 2nd period. Otherwise they're toast.

but the TV tells me that was a "good road period"

What low expectations we have.

With Scott in the box, not much opportunity to throw the 4th line out there.

He's not very good. That he's an offensive threat is being optimistic. If that's the case then Jochen Hecht is a star forward.

Your eyes deceive you. It was Seidenberg, a defenseman.

I respect Thornton. He's a LHW but holds his own (usually) at HW. I don't like to see anyone hurt, but the Sabres needed some kind of boost after the last couple years of being complete pansies. Scott did his job here.

QFT. We lucked out that the Bruins weren't hitting the net on some of their early chances and a few of their later chances Miller simply held strong.

Other 1st period thoughts: Scott made quick work of Thornton, we'll see if he moves on to a bigger opponent later... meh, I thought there were weak calls on Leopold and Scott... I'd like to see them cleanly transition out of their own zone at some point... it was a good road period in the sense that we're not trailing, but we haven't been good in 2nd periods and Boston hasn't allowed a goal in the 3rd yet, so... yeah.
