i dont see why the habs do this, the first round pick is probably going to be in the 22-30 range, more likely in the 26-30 range. Eller is young and a part of future plans. If i were philly i would take a good look at it though.

The key part of this deal, is the fact its suppose to be a deep draft this year which could be good for the Habs. Plus also a good free agency pool this year.
Kaberle off the books, we likely could replace Eller and get strong defense, giving enough time for this potential 1st rounder to develope.
Philadelphia is in win now mode. They have key injuries and could use the offensive help along with a dman to help out on the backend. Weber just needs to play and has a solid shot.
It's very good value, but we definitely don't do this. We need our first round pick this year to draft a potential number 1 d-man. If our need wasn't for a defensemen, I'd do this deal is a second. Philly's d problems are a bit exaggerated, but we need a real number 1 puck mover. Luke schenn has been our best player this year, yes even better than Giroux. Say what you want, but without Luke we'd be in REAL trouble.

Unless you expect to draft Seth Jones, there's no way you can expect to draft a #1 defenseman, to the point where you won't move your pick because of it.

I said potential, and ANY first round defensemen in our system would automatically be an upgrade on any prospect we have besides possibly Gostisbehere, depending on the player. My point is, I'm not giving away our first rounder this year, we need to draft an impact defensemen.

Eller is a center though and Philly won't be trading their 1St for another center.
Good value considering where that first rounder should slot #20-30.
With that being said I highly doubt that the Flyers do that. If they feel that they are a contender, I am sure that they would rather use their first rounder to fetch them a top six forward or top four D man. Not use it for a third liner and a bottom pair D man.
That is coming from a Habs fan. I have not gave up on Eller yet.

Have you seen the Flyers play this year? Right now it looks like that first rounder is more likely to be a top 10 pick than the Flyers winning a round in the playoffs.
Exactly. Eller and Weber aren't bad players, but neither is the type of high level player that Philly would want if it moved its first. A third line center and bottom pairing dman can be found without moving that high of a pick.
