Jussi Jokinen to Pens for conditional 2013 6th or 7th

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1m
CAR trading Jussi Jokinen to PIT for a conditional pick. Trade call pending. CAR is taking back some money in deal. #tradecentre

Conditional pick = probably nothing

We basically gave him away and kept some salary to boot. There must not have been anything on the table for him.

Round of pick probably dependent upon Pens playoffs run, etc.

Good luck in Pittsburgh, Juice.

That's one player off the books...

Edit: But not really off the books

My understanding is that he needs to exceed Boychuk's totals while in Pittsburgh. Could be close that he surpasses the modern era Mendoza line.

Is this the first deal where a team takes salary back? Hopefully Jimmy didn't get too generous.

Penguins are trying to win the Cup by acquiring every player ever so there's nobody left to play against.
I'm starting to believe this is the case.

Sad to see the Juice go, I like him.

Anybody got the Pens cap numbers? Are they close?

$3.6 million below the cap, before today. They can't do much more.

Knowing JR we probably kept more salary than gave away.

No, Toronto ate some salary in the Lombardi trade a few months ago.

Considering you can't keep more than 50% of a player's salary, I'd say you're wrong.

yep, now the question is just how much of Jussi's salary we're eating. Anything 1 million or under is fine by me.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 2m
If Jokinen plays 25 per cent of PIT 2013 playoff games AND PIT goes to Cup final, CAR gets 7th round pick from PIT.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 56s
If Jokinen plays 50 per cent of PIT 2013 playoff games AND PIT wins the CUP, CAR gets a 6th round pick from PIT

so a pretty ****** trade in terms of how likely it is we end up with anything out of this.

A 6th or 7th?

Is that the best we could do?

6th if Pittsburgh wins the cup and Jokinen plays in >50% of their playoff games. Otherwise it's 7th. I hope it's a 7th.
