Didn't they do this same clip on the scoreboard during the pre game show?

Not with standing other media sites, does the head coach have any influence on what we are doing??

Obviously, the team is a joke. Never said a captain would make them good. There is a lot wrong here.

But there is more to being a captain than just talking to the refs. Not saying that would make this team good, but it couldn't hurt to at least have a team leader (obviously they don't respond to the coach). There is reason every team (aside from us) does have one, and it could empower Jack to make take some control over how guys are approaching things

What exactly is the system that Richards is attempting to implement?

We have a lame duck coach and a lame duck GM. When a new guy takes over, they always bring in their own guys and that is going to happen here. Everyone knows it, including the players.

8 coaches in 14 years, I think we can rule out the coach.

We didn't know what we had in Hitch. King, like Trotz if given time, may have turned the corner.

I don't know what the answer is anymore. We will get to the point this year where we see 4 digit attendance figures regularly.

I'm not sure if he is the problem. he might be but who knows. A 4 day camp and no time to practice makes it difficult to install a system especially with a bunch of guys who haven't played together.

Everyone seems to be on pins and needles here, cautious in their posts....

Well here is my assessment, the CBJ are getting blown away in their own house by their past head coach and no one gives a damn...

Pathetic, there shouldn't be one fan posting here that has anything good to say about the coaching staff or CBJ organization...

Sure we did. The difference is that in St. Louis, Hitchcock got to work off the bat with Pietrangelo, Cole, Polak, Jackman, and Shattenkirk. In Columbus, Dougie gave him Hainsey, Eriksson, Westcott, Klesla, Tollefsen, and Aaron Johnson.

St. Louis is still in the Hitchcock Honeymoon period. If he lasts 3 more full seasons I will be surprised.

Yep, the Blues fans will really hate making the playoffs and watching their young talent actually develop.

With respect Mattew, it isn't about Hitchcock, it's about the Columbus Blue Jackets... Come on, down 0-3 in the first period at home? In a short season? Jeepers...

He is all around probably our best player, he plays the most minutes on the team every single night, sometimes even 30 minutes, and he is one of the few guys that at the very least, does his job and effort isn't a question.

I'd rather hope guys follow his example then pass the captaincy around to miserable guys like RJ, Tyutin, Aucoin, etc.
Rick Nash was our best player and he had the C for years, plenty of people were calling for him to not have it by the end of his tenure. Has JJ even played half a regular season in our sweater yet? We barely know what we have in him and you want to give him a C already.

Doing your job and showing effort should be the minimum qualities of any professional athlete, not the things that separate someone from the pack of captaincy candidates.

Hitch's longest tenure is 6 (roughly full) seasons with Dallas. It's not crazy to think he only lasts 4.5 with St. Louis.

Plenty of fans here thought Philly fans were out of place saying players eventually tune him out when it looked like things were improving here under Hitch. Turns out they were right.

I see you ignored the part where I said he was our best player and leads the team in ice time. And yes, being counted on to bring it every single night is a good quality for a leader to have. Especially when the rest of the guys on the team don't
