I don't know but it sounds like a solid pickup to me. He looked really good when I saw him play in the AHL a couple of times this season.

Good for the Pens.

Just said it on Hockey central as well.

Good no risk pickup for Pitts. And Boychuk should get an opportunity there.

I know Carolina fans are mixed on him. Half seem to believe he's had his shot and is never going to be a full-time NHL forward and the other half believes he really hasn't gotten a substantial run in the Top 6. He's going to need to get that opportunity to contribute for Pittsburgh, he is not a bottom 6 forward.

Just curious, but any word if the Rangers put in a claim for him?

Watch him score twice against the Rangers at some point this year

Pittsburgh just gave him a golden opportunity to have an NHL career and the possibility of making millions of $. He must be doing backflips right now.

Wow I thought the Devils would claim him first. (or attempt to at least)

Lou usually loves low risk/high reward pick ups such as this (See Ryan Carter & Steve Bernier) & he could have filled out the 3rd line.

Who does Pittsburgh think they are? All waiver claims must go threw Long Island first!!! LOL Good Luck to the kid. He should be able to put up some points with Crosby or Malkin.

I'm guessing the Devils and Rangers both put in claims, but Pittsburgh is lower in the standings.

Almost definitely going to skate with Malkin or Crosby. Huge opportunity for him.

Didn't see that one coming.

Based on a comment on the Canes board, it sounds like he's getting a tryout until Niskanen comes off IR. After that, he either sticks or gets sent back through waivers with the Hurricanes first in line to claim him back. Kind of a weird situation.

I remember the Zach Hamill vs Zach Boychuk threads.

Turns out it was a trick question because there was no correct answer.

I don't think he really had a chance with the Canes.

3 coaches have said no to him with us so far.

I hope him the best.

All I know is that he was extremely skilled in Juniors and I really liked what I saw in 2009 World Juniors when he won Gold in Ottawa.

Bylsma says Boychuk could get work on Malkin's line.

The fact that all 3 coaches have attempted to put him in the lineup and all 3 have said no tells me he was given a chance and just couldn't make the most of them.

It's worth a shot. Keep Glass in the bottom six.
