I would choose Trouba.. But both don't really impress me.. I need to know what they can do in the NHL.

Good one.

As far as which of those D-man, it's hard to compare because both are different type of D-men. Rielly's potential is seriously off the charts. His on-ice awareness, playmaking skills and skating are off the charts. I don't think I've seen a better pure skater in junior since Crosby.

I'll take Rielly !

Rielly. Leafs have a real stud in their hands.

( not saying that Trouba isn't a stud - just that i think Rielly has all-star potential. )

Rielly purely because of skating. Defensive responsibility can be taught, they both have offence, but Rielly's skating is insanely good.

Defenseman are very hard to compare especially since they aren't in the NHL yet. I can see why people could choose Trouba, he's been good at the WJC and has had a great start in Michigan.

I'd still keep Morgan Rielly. He seems like a game breaker, great IQ, smart effective player, elusive and he'll make the Leafs PP and ES transition game so much better.

He's an elite skater, he can easily be compared to the best skaters in the NHL. We've got Phil Kessel and Gardiner that skate good and he's as fluid as them if not even better.

If you're an offensive D, skating and high IQ keep you out of trouble.

Trouba, but some of that has to with the make up of our defense. We already have a player in Enstrom that Leafs fans hope Rielly develops into. And we have Buff who basically plays rover. What we need is a big bruising shut down guy who can generate some offense, but mostly keeps his own end clean.

Love both, but give me Rielly. He has such a dynamic factor to his game (elite skating)

Rielly, but I was very, very impressed by the play of Trouba at the WJC. He looks like a real keeper.

They would make a great pairing together haha.

But is take Rielly just because of his skating/vision. Really close though

Both are great prospects, but I think Trouba will be the all around better dman. Rielly offensive skills are way better, but by watching him this year his defensive skills worried me a bit, but he can easily improve in that area.

This will be an interesting to pay attention to.

I'm getting the feeling I prolly brought this on

Anyway, Trouba is way more NHL ready than Rielly. I'd prefer it if Rielly did a year in the AHL (but since he can't, junior would be fine too) and then become one of the leaders for Canada in the WJrs.

Homer in me says Rielly, realist in me says I'd be ecstatic with either.

Last edited by Atomos2: 05-25-2013 at 12:03 PM. Reason: switched both to either...although I'd be happy with both
