Would be pretty lame to target Vanek for cheap shots.

As a Bruins fan I would love it to. Nothing would be funnier than hearing another whiny Ryan Miller press conference. Also it would be funny seeing John Scott follow Lucic like Laraque did, knowing Lucic isn't gonna drop it with some scrub who shouldn't even be on an NHL team.

Too many missed chances earlier in the game when the B's were in control.
Sabres playing with a bit of a nasty edge, just maybe the refs will start keeping a closer eye on them.
B's looked to be tiring later in the game, this compressed schedule is tough.
Vanek.

What the hell happened tonight? What a disappointing result!
Thornton went w/ Scott, got pinned against the glass and ate a few, went down didn't come back.

D was uncharacteristically bad w/ horrid decisions all night. Tuukka was human. Miller saved their ass at key points. Turning point was 2 full mins shorthanded 5 on 3. Stafford gave Dougie an elbow that sent him to the room, came back. Bergie was tripped by Erhoff, went right off holding his arm. He did come back, didn't take faceoffs, couldn't lift a puck over a down and out Miller. Just a bad night.

Now those are some valid questions.

Thorntons our fighter, he handled Boogaard and Scott is no Boogaard.
He handled the drugged out, punched out Boogaard. I doubt he would do that great vs. the older version.

I honestly don't think any of the Bruins knew Hamilton was elbowed..WE didn't know until the slow mo replay.

I think the Bruins know better than to try it again.

No need to put a beatdown on them, a sixpack will suffice for me

Honest question:

Why do you keep posting here and not on your own board?

Habs fans used to say the same thing.

"We got BGL, Lucic will stop picking on Komisarek!"

Then Lucic ruined Komisarek's career... and all Habs fans could cling on to was the fact that Lucic laughed off a fight with their 4th line goon.

Lucic won't change his game, hasn't yet even when guys like Laraque and Orr are on the other side of the puck. Didn't tonight either, loved the game from the top two lines for like a period and a half after the Scott/Thornton (mis)match. Thought it was some of their best hockey. Especially enjoyed them playing right on top of Miller and not giving him a chance to breathe.

Boston lost tonight because they couldn't contain Vanek.

No, it would be a bad idea, because I don't think Chara isn't a very good fighter. In my opinion would be a desperate move (trying to match the size) and would only give them more energy.

That'll be fun.

But the overall aftermath will be the usual for the Sabres. A mid-pack finish with the season over in April and a mediocre pick.

Just in from the game...

Most important I hope Shawn will be ok. That AHL goon had 10 inches and I don't know how many pounds on Shawn. He just pounded him on the top of the head. It was tough to see.. Shawn sat in the box and then went by us...looking not so good. :

I hope Danny's eye is OK

I hope Bergy is really OK

Our D has been so good but tonight Z and Johnny B were BAD against that Bruin killer Vanek

I thought Pevs played well and Marchy had a couple of nice goals. The birthday boy made a couple of nice plays too.

What was up with calling a time out with a few seconds left when you are up by 3 goals...I thought that was strange.

Oh well...You can't win them all but it sucks to see our boys get injured.

Just got back home from TD Garden. The Bruins really shot themselves in the foot. They had the game well in hand, the crowd was really into it...and then Looch boards a Sabre (Milan's got to stop doing those) and Z takes that lazy hook and the game completely changes.

Up until that point they had Buffalo on the ropes and the Krejci line in particular was a forechecking machine. After the 5-on-3 I couldn't believe all the odd-man rushes they gave up. As Tuukka said post game, it was a very un-Bruins-like effort.

Wow Bruins fans are a bit hostile. The changing point of the game was the 5on3 Goal by Vanek... until that point the Bruins were outplaying the Sabres bad. Vanek was amazing tonight and Chara/Rask looked bad..... doubt that happens the next time they play.

Ruff took a timeout with 13 seconds left because he didn't want the Pominville - Hodgson- Vanek line to get jumped.... so he sent out Scott.

It would be nice if Chara finished his checks on Vanek next game.

exactly. gotta hit this guy at all turns. some sabres fan was yapping about how "tough" vanek is cuz he stands in front of the net. big deal. so does kessel and a lot of other goal scorers. fact remains that if you constantly hit the guy, he'll wilt. saw too many times where our guys pulled a glen murray and just circled away. weak.

So why put the vanek line with 13 second with a 3 goals lead, IMO it was already in Ruff mind. so now he can make an excuse.
