really wanna see the pairs like this next game assuming Regehr is healthy

Ehrhoff Myers
Sekera Weber
Sulzer Regehr

If Myers can't pick his game up then give him a look from the press box, I think Leopold needs to see the game from up top as well.

I see Ellis 4-10 at the dot -- in his role as defensive face-off specialist.

Fixing the little holes on the roster ain't rocket science, Darcy.

I really want to see Vanek's hattie goal up on youtube. That was just fantastic. He made it look so easy.

Ott and Ellis got owned. 7 for 26 between them.

CoHo was 7 for 16.

Grigo was 4 for 8

Ennis 3 for 4.

Hecht 5 for 7.

For some reason, the play reminded me of this:

And Pominville is 4th. Weird not seeing Crosby, Malkin, Giroux etc up there right now, but we still are only 7 games in.

The Bruins though are a great faceoff team. Bergeron is usually right near the league leaders, and Peverley would be too if he took more draws. Expected to get owned at the dot TBH.

Bergeron was 7 for 9 vs Ott. Peverley was 6 for 6 against Ellis. That right there is the big story.

On a purely selfish note, my Thomas Vanek jersey appreciates his world beater start to the season.

Glad to see Weber stepping his game up, have always been a fan. Hopefully he can stay consistent.

G: VHP, Foligno, Weber, Scott, Ennis, Miller
B: Defense
U: Defense

Please just get rid of the 57-3 pairing dear lord. I might have an aneurysm if I have to see that pairing again.

G
-Vanekonda Just took the team on his shoulders
-Miller with huge saves while his scrub defense left him out to dry a dozen+ times
-Coho, Poms, Ennis and Weber also with solid games
-Scott smoking Thorton with a late right that put him to sleep and putting the scum bag Bruins on notice
B
-Myers/Leo were atrocious. That pairing is horrible, no idea why he keeps going back to it.
U
-Anything and everything Bruins related

Bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bushes.

And VHP is one giant bird.

Breaking up VHP could get other lines going...or it could kill the offense entirely. Helluva risk to take.

Ennis and Foligno seem to be waking up a little. Let the other guys get their legs moving and their heads in the game, and the secondary scoring will come around.

As long as he's sprinkled in during injuries or bad stretches of play by the top 6... Weber is a fine Dman. We start playing him over 60-70% of the games. It won't turn out so well IMO.

In this game, yes, the core didn't fold. They battled through adversity. I'm just not sure I'm ready to anoint them mentally, err... "stable," for lack of a better term, just yet. This early-season losing streak showed me quite a bit about this Sabres' team.
The losing streak showed me that their D can play pretty bad. This game was no different.

The bird in the hand is a highly productive scoring line that produces at a ridiculous clip and throws in literally ninety percent of our team's offense.

The two birds in the bush can either be a serviceable, even scoring bird duo (which at the very best breaks even with the golden goose you have in hand), or they could be dead.

This is no-brainer territory, y'all. The other lines will need to bring themselves up to a better standard.

Watched the Scott/Thornton bout again.

I noticed it took Thornton every last bit of energy he could muster to lift himself off the ice (gripping the ref) as he stumbled to the box and started spewing dazed, incoherent ramblings in the direction of Scott. He was KO'd, and probably concussed. That's why they yanked him out of the game.
