I'm starting to think Gary Roberts knows exactly what he's doing. We know the impact he had on Stamkos' game.

Kessel doesn't have an elite slapshot. I've only seen him score one nice slapshot goal in his 3 years here, the one against Winnipeg from Phaneuf.

Brian Burke's parting gift may prove to be a very valuable one.

To the guy who said earlier in this thread that a more defensive system has ruined Ovechkin's game:
There's no way that's the reason. Look at the plays he made tonight, or rather, the plays he failed to make. Third period, down by one. He has a step on Phaneuf going wide, and he settles for a low percentage shot from the outside of the circle. Does Hart Trophy Ovechkin do that? Hell no, he goes around Phaneuf like he's not even there, takes the puck to the net and ties the game.
There is no coaching explanation for him playing like this with the puck. And how about the double-lap he did at the very end only to make a very obvious pass? A few years ago he would have gotten that puck on net himself and caused utter chaos and at least gotten the Caps a faceoff in our zone.

Please take Kostka and Bozak off the powerplay. Bozak pissed me off this game so much. Every single time, he was looking to pass to Kessel or made a short pass to Kessel every chance he had. This made the plays predicable. Kostka just moves the puck way too slow on the powerplay and the PP is stationary.

And you think Frattin does?!
What are you going on about here? Kessel can still a take a quick wristshot.

You guys want a top pick to get good young talent. But isn't having Kadri and Frattin playing like this and Reimer looking better alone terrific news for the future? It's not like old vets for leading this team.

Great duo of Kadri and Frattin. They just play so well together.
Of course props to JVR using his size and skill.

Thank you Florida! We're in 8th now.
We are 4-3 without Kessel scoring a single goal. This is good for us. Goal scorers always score in bunches...he scores one, and by the next week he'll have 5.

I still sit up every time Ovechkin touches the puck, though. I don't think that will ever go away.

Looks like it may have made contact and changed direction slightly, but he surely didn't see Frattin there. He was probably trying to direct the puck on net.
The pass Frattin made to Kadri was just as good as the return pass
That whole play happened in the blink of an eye.

I do the same, and with Backstrom as well.

This is just me, but why wish to tank when your 4-3-0 and could push for a playoff spot? You should wish to tank mid way through your season when your sitting at 11-16-3 and in 12th in the East ... That's when you don't want to win games. It is still early on who knows what will happen.
