On a side note...what a goal by Brad Marchand tonight.

They aren't.
Nothing would have happened, with Scott on the ice or without. Besides, it's MacD, the Bruins probably have a guy who's just as good at fighting on every line/D combo, so, Julien shouldn't have sent anyone out ?
But I understand Ruff's reaction, don't see anything wrong with it. No biggie.

He didn't send Scott out to fight. He just sent him out to make sure that MacWhatever (who Julien decided out to go put with 13 seconds left) didn't start anything. Well, MacWhatever didn't start anything. Game over. Case closed. Moving on now.

Not saying it hasnt happened but most coaches dont put out their skill players up by 3 with 13 seconds left in a game.

Claude Julien was smart enough to have his protection on the ice the in the waning seconds of an emotional game. Lindy was apparently not smart enough to realize this?

Maybe Lindy should get some coaching lessons from Claude, he might actually win something.

Pretty much this. Nothing happened, and that's what Ruff wanted. LOL at questioning Ruffs motives when his actions only served to protect him against any possible ill motives on Julien's side, having MacDermid out there with 13 seconds left.

Funny that Ruff still had that timeout left, and was able to so completely and publicly neuter the Bruins right there.

Of course, teams that roll their lines like Buffalo don't necessarily care or think about that with a 3 goal lead and 13 seconds left. It's not supposed to matter, but enforcer presence is the only thing that changes the situation, and everyone knows it.

bruins are a disgrace, i remember when the put out a line of "tough" guys agains the habs late in a game and they grabbed all the soft non fighters off the faceoff circle and pounded them but when somone else does it, its disrespectful, if your going to play that way fine but don't cry when the tables are turned

Ruff is still upset about the beating he took from Cam Neely back in 88'. So any time he has a chance to stick it to the Bruins he will do it.

The Bruins are well known for resorting to goonery in the dying seconds of a game.

Smart enough to have his "protection" out? Why would he need protection against who the Sabres had out?

It's pretty common to just roll your lines when down like that. Never in a million years was MacDermid gonna start something. Calling a timeout was definitely strange but whatever, no big deal. Can't wait for the next game.

This thread is about a timeout call, we don't care he put his goon on the ice after.

You find me a youtube of Claude Julien sending his 4th line out in the last minute of a game and beating on the habs "skill players".

good call by Ruff. if they wanted to goon it up, might as well send your own goons out.

It isn't like the Bruins don't have a certain reputation in such situations.
