Voted Doughty. Pietrangelo is better now, but Doughty gave LA some good years while Pie was still in juniors.

I dont get this logic as Doughty only gave the Kings 1 good year while AP was still in juniors:

Career Stats
Doughty 322 GP 163 PTS +11
AP 184 GP 105 PTS +30

And to start this year Doughty has 1 point while AP has 8...So basically aside from one season that was well over 2 years ago AP has been the better player on offense and that is supposed to be what seperates Doughty...On top of it AP is about as consistent as it gets and he has only been getting better each year...I just do not get how someone can place Doughty ahead of AP at this time...It would be like putting Myers over AP since he had a great year while AP was in juniors.

Yeah, if Ennis is on the list, Hodgson ought to be, though I don't really expect either to start getting any votes til maybe 10th overall or so.

Gap between 3-4 and is certainly larger than the gap between 2-3.

Myers' years haven't been anywhere near Doughty's quality. Doughty's extra 58 pts in 138 more games are too much to ignore. Pietrangelo hasn't done enough to make up that difference yet,

58 pts in 138 games really impresses you? Because to me that says more about how inconsistent he has been...I mean 58 pts in 138 games is rather horrible for a guy who is supposed to be an offensively gifted dman…O well it does not matter to me either way I just find some of the reasoning for picking Doughty over AP a bit shocking.

Yes, a 59 point season @ 19 yrs old does impress me. I think people are forgetting how good he was. Doughty was one of Canada's best defenseman in the Olympics, he's won a Cup. He's done a lot in his short time in the NHL. I understand Pietrangelo is coming into his own now, but Doughty's earned a higher spot IMO with his longer track record.

No one is saying that his season at 19 was not extemely impressive however since then its been downhill...Doughty track record is that he was better one year and AP was better the following 2 years and is on track to make it 3 in a row...When you say longer track record that to me would mean Doughty has not fallen off like he has the 2 years following his season as a 19 year old. If he had kept that up then this would not be a debate but he has not come close to that year since then...So when I think about track records I look at Doughty as having been great at 19 and since then he has gone down...While AP was in Juniors at 19 but since then has been the better player...But to each their own.

How many times do we have to say this...Doughty is better defensively than he is offensively. There's a reason the Kings haven't lost a beat defensively even with Mitchell and Greene out. He obviously has great offensive skills too but that isn't going to show on the stat sheet when Carter is the only Kings forward who can finish.

Have you people forgotten what Doughty did in the playoffs less than a year ago? Nothing Pietrangelo has ever done was that impressive.

Let me guess. You haven't watched a single Kings game this year, have you?

Yes I have watched Doughty play and as you said his D is better than his O however 2 years ago all we heard about was how phenomenal his offense was and it has just not been there…And we can sit here and talk about not having forwards who can score yet the Kings and the Blues have put up very similar offensive numbers last year (not talking about this year) and AP still produced more…

As to your comment that AP has never done what Doughty did in these playoffs, you are correct…But it still does not make him the better player at this point in their careers…If anything that is the frustrating thing about Doughty and that is his consistency.

Look I don’t doubt that Doughty and AP talent levels are dead even it’s a matter of consistency…I wish Doughty was more consistent with his overall play...I am a fan of his and I think him and AP can both be the best dmen in the game so I am not some Doughty hater.
