Just like Reimer's injury it was avoidable if the refs paid more attention. The puck hit the mesh and the play should have been blown dead and 10 or so seconds later karlson is down. The no icing call against philly as schenn casually skated to touch the puck caused the faceoff in our own zone and Reimer got injured.

Son of a *****! Karlsson is on my fantasy team and now I will have absolutely no backup on the blue line, especially with Drew Doughty there, who just sucks!!!!

According to WebMD.com, it can take between six to twelve months before the Achilles tendon is completely healed.

The fact we play Ottawa Saturday night makes me very happy this happened but still wish him the best in his recovery, this may be a career altering injury for him.

As much as I hate the Sens, I do feel for them. Hate him or not Karlsson is one of the Leagues most exciting defensemen. Don't know how they're going to manage without their #1C and #1D for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully he recovers quickly, Karlsson may be a Sen but I still like him, and that sounds like a ****** injury. Also, I thought we got hit hard by the injury bug (Lupul, Reimer and Frattin), but the Sens have it even worse (Karlsson and Spezza). Their two best players BY FAR.

Never like to see a guy like Karlsson take an injury like that especially if it's career altering.

I think it depends if it was nicked or severed. Didn't look like just a nick though...

Sucks for Sens and Karlsson. Wish him a speedy recovery no matter how much I dislike the Sens.

Definitely feel bad for Karlsson. Not for the Sens fans though. What a scary injury and a pretty long recovery period coming up for him.

9 regular players out now, including Cowen who was supposed to be the #2 defenseman this year.

Didn't realize I spelled Rielly wrong. Got too excited after we drafted him! And my lack of sympathy towards players getting injured is somehow putting out a bad image on behalf of Leafs nation? Come on man. Injuries happen, none of us wish ill-will towards anyone else (including athletes on rival teams) but I'm not going to shed a tear when I see an opposing player go down (due to no fault of my own).

Agreed, I am on the same boat with u. I despise the Sens just as much as anyone but Karlsson is my current top 5 player in the league. Honestly, I would do just about anything to get him on the Leafs, I really hope he recovers quickly and continues in the form that he is playing in. This type of injuries can literally worsen his acceleration and like u said, his career could be up in the air.

it wasnt intentional by cooke
it was a hit and pin play, which is common

First laugh I got since the injury, so thanks for that. Now excuse me while I go slit my wrists with a skate...

Even without Karlsson in their line up we are going to be in tough against them...we are a hurting team ourselves with Lupul, Frattin and Reimer out...would much prefer to fully healthy rosters going head to head than this...

That just sucks for Sens. Karlsson is a D-man of completely different breed. Could be me only, but I thought he had potential to be next Lidstrom.

Good luck to him on recovery.

PS: Totally unintentional by Cooke, imo. He isn't even looking at his (Karlsson's) leg.
