I think someone could beat that offer though.

Chicago, Philly, Washington, Florida?? would probably all show some interest. I bet we could get a 1st from one of them, and in a draft like this I would take a late 1st over those 2 pieces.

2nd in 2013 and Colborne I think would work. I think Weisbrod was instrumental in the Bruins picking Colborne initially so I think that's a guy he would really want, plus we really lack a big center. Perhaps a 2014 2nd as well if the Leafs make the playoffs.

Lol @ kipper only fetching a 2nd and a bust.

When deadline day rolls around I wouldn't be surprised if we got a top prospect, good player and a 1st minimum.

If you were to trade two veterans such as iginla your not going to get much for a player in mid 30's even if he's a gall of famer. The trade should have been done 3 or 4 yrs ago

I'd consider kipper for Colborne, Holzer + a conditional 2nd if the Leafs make the playoffs

It should have been done 3-4 yeas ago for maximum return, sure. But every team that's in the hunt for the Cup is going to consider adding Iginla if he's available. The price won't be what it would have been last year or the year before, but it still will be significant.

Put it this way: if a GM believes adding Iginla could be the different between winning the Cup and not winning the Cup, what is he going to do? He's going to put forward a significant offer. Picks and prospects aren't as valuable to a GM if he thinks he's on the brink of winning the Cup.

Really depends on the fan, I wanted Kadri in the summer and most leafs fans agreed and Flames fans were pissed now I think it would be the either way around. If Kadri is off the table maybe Reimer + Franson for Kipper + Butler.

Not a chance. As good as he is, he's aging and the goaltender market is over-saturated as it is. No contending team is gonna dish out all that for a moderate goalie upgrade, and no bottom-feeder would give up all those resources for a guy who might retire in a year's time.

To be honest, I just want to see Iggy and Kipper go to good teams and do well. It will take some time for the Flames to become a really competitive team again...not much point in stressing out over how that winding road goes lol.

Ideally, something like Kipper to Chicago and Iggy to Boston. Hard to say what the returns should be...if history is any indication there will probably be a lot of upset Flames fans lol.

Dwight King+ Andrei Loktionov+ Jonathan Bernier

Jarome Iginla+ bottom pairing defensive dman+ pick?

Unless Kipper is going to keep playing for the next 2-3 years in Calgary...

Why would the Flames trade Iginla+ for an extremely unproven backup goaltender, a young career 4th liner, and a vastly overrated centre prospect that has been trending downhill over the last 3 seasons?

Do some of you think before you post?

Would you like Baertschi and Gaudreau as well?

I don't think Colborne is a bust like some do, I also don't think the trade value of goaltenders is very high at all.

Nope, just don't think the market is there. Goaltenders are often available and rarely return good value if they get traded at all.

To CGY
Eller
Y.Weber

To MTL
Giordano

flames get a young top-9 C with top-6 potential (so similar to Backlund in talent/potential/size/style of play it's eery) and a young PMD with the offensive tools to be a top-4 player but who needs time to bulk up/improve his defensive zone play.

Habs get a solid top-4 2-way dman, gritty/character guy with above average offensive game & a reasonable contract who would complement their needs very well.

could add a later pick (3rd-4th) from Mtl, or replace Weber with the Flames 2nd pick Mtl already owns...

King is a big body that does the board work on a bottom 6 line.
Loktionov is NOT "vastly overrated". he has potential to be a top 6 center in a scoring role while playing stellar defense.
Bernier, while "unproven", has shown flashes of great goaltending in his short time in the NHL when given the starts.

What do you want for Iginla, 3 1st rounders? 3 1st rounders that are EVEN MORE UNPROVEN? What are you expecting to get? You claim all these pieces are "vastly" unproven, but yet believe you may end up getting BETTER players that are ALSO unproven (probably even more unproven)?

Do YOU think before you post?

And yes, clearly I want all your good prospects for our 7th round pick. That's why i asked for Iginla and a depth dman just in case Mitchell has a setback.

Not completely convinced (maybe 8/10) that package gets you Iginla alone, never mind Calgary adding.

Calgary's not sending picks out in a fire sale scenario, that's for sure.
