What teams have boring names?

In my personal, subjective opinion, my favorite team, the Vancouver Canucks have a boring name. It does nothing for me. It conveys nothing of the traits I'd prefer to see in a hockey team, the way say, "Bruins," conveys aggression and size, for example.

What teams if any, to you, have a boring name? And why? And do you think that team should change its name, or is it just too established to make a change worthwhile?

Basically every NHL team. We need teams like the Greenville Grrrowl and Macon Whoopee.

I agree with the Canucks, despite being a fan.

Islanders always conveys the sense of being lazy and not serious for me, for some reason.

Not sure if there are any others off the top of my head. Leafs and Habs could be deemed boring names, but they have too much history behind them to include them.

EDIT: Ducks without the "Mighty" is also kind of lame.

Depends on who you're a fan of, also how the team plays... Bruins sounds pretty boring to me.

Canucks is right on par. Halfway copy of Canadiens, and just pretty bland.

Predators - so generic. Not a specific animal, just all aggressive animals?

Capitals - So...your team name is multiple cities that are capitals?

Wild - the hell is a Wild?

I really don't understand how a team name can be boring.

I think the Wild is lame. I also happen not to like names that aren't pluralized. It makes it weird when you say "Zach Parise is the newest...Wild." Saying "Zach Parise is a former Devil" just works better.

Canucks - what the heck is a Canuck?
Ducks - oh, look a duck, so intimidating...
Penguins - psh, there are no penguins in Pittsburgh.
Rangers - looks like everyone wants to be the nerdy blue power ranger.
Coyotes - might as well be the Wily E. Coyotes.
Flyers - which is it, a shoe or a wagon?
Leafs - a leaf, really?

Respectfully disagree with the history aspect, at least the last 46 years worth. Not defending the Islander's name but who was the last team to win four cups in a row? When was the last Leafs cup? Last Leafs visit to the playoffs?

Don't really get what that has to do with what he said? I guess if you want to attack his team back to try and recover from hurt feelings you should get the team he supports right.

Wasn't knocking his team (Canucks). I simply stated that the Leafs history is ancient.

This thread isn't the most exciting. Just bored with my team not playing tonight I guess.

Call me old fashioned but I'm not a fan of any team names that are singular (ie. Avalanche, Lightning)

I concur. It just seems weird to me when I refer to a team like Minny as the Minnesota Wild. "Setoguchi is now a Wild???" opposed to saying "he's now a Ranger or a Star"
