For the Habs, I'd like to see Gorges or Pacioretty (These two ooze heart and soul and bring the definition hard work and determination onto the ice). The main core of the team however is Price but as we saw with Luongo that didn't work out all too well.
Chara and John Tavares are gimmes for captaincy of their respectful teams. For the Blues, I would nominate Alex Pietriangelo; though Backes is a fine captain. Leafs and Calgary I have no idea, both of those teams are all over the place.

John Tavares is not captain of the New York Islanders.
I don't mind Thornton as the captain, but if I had to absolutely pick another Captain...Dan Boyle would be my pick. Doesn't take losing for an answer, has the balls to call people out and himself if he so sucks. Has all the makings of an NHL Captain IMO.
Agreed 100%. He's the most obvious pick, to me, from the rest of the roster.
Pominville is a great captain for us. I really wouldn't want anyone replacing him. Vanek's been on fire this year, obviously, but he still gets down on himself when he's not scoring and at times has terrible body language. Poms seems really steady and vocal on the ice. Vanek's a great A, though. I'd prefer ehrhoff have the other A over stafford. Down the road Foligno's probably going to get a leadership role, the kid's work ethic is unbelievable.
So for now I'd personally like:
C: Pominville
A: Vanek
A: Ehrhoff
I would strip Jovo of the "C" and give it to no one.
This team doesn't have an overall, ultimate leader, IMO. A lot of Panther fans think it should go to Campbell. I'd rather see Soup get the "C" over Jovo.
Two years from now I can already tell I'd want Komorov.
He was the captain for Team Finland at the 2007 juniors, and was a captain for Moscow Dynamo in the KHL.
Also, he has the beard of a true NHL captain
He's only like, what, 25? He looks 50 in that picture.
This is actually a tough question for a Kings fan. If it was last season, it would easily be Richards, but he has been subpar so far this season.
You would think we would just revert to Kopitar, but he is a quiet guy and is merely the scoring leader, though he is passionate about the Kings and deserves the 'A'.
It would probably be a toss up between Matt Greene and Mike Richards. Matt Greene can control a room, is vocal, and can get on everyone's good side with humor, but at the same time be serious and menacing. Richards, even though he is having an off year, exudes leadership and steps up for the team in tough situations. It is hard to keep him down long. So flip a coin and choose either of those two.
