Gardiner is a solid young dman, but he has a lot to prove and is coming off an injury where he can't earn his spot back yet. No offence but he is not as amazing as you think. He has potential to get better.....

Ask your self this, does FLA give more value to Weiss or Huberdeau more? Jesus bud, Vancouver is looking to deal Luongo and keep a guy with 70 starts. How is this hard for you, Gardiner is good, Reilly is projected to be better....simple.

Oh and to be clear, so you are saying that Gardiner is top 5 defencemen in NHL? Because Reilly is that in the WHL, so Gardiner would have to be that in the NHL based on your example........

Not really; based on fact and history I don't believe Raymond, Higgins, or Lapierre have warranted a pay raise of 50%+.

See how frustrating it is to argue with some of these delusional people, Liferleafer I do give you credit for trying.

Spot on with the Gardiner and Weiss comparison. Wish I had the eye for talent just like you.

Even next year if Ballard is moved he would still be a bottom pairing defenceman playing with Tanev.
He's been sent down on a conditioning stint. He was brought up and sent back down twice because of the AHL All-star break and they want him to get an NHL paycheck while recovering.

They still think very highly of him.

Hmmm..

I never thought about him to Tampa. They really like Conacher and are tearing it up though, so I doubt it'll happen unless they get a quality forward in return.

Ya no way he is producing for Tampa and he is 5"8. Canucks aren't looking for small guys, we gut Schroeder already. Gillis is looking to get bigger.

If the Canucks added a good piece in the Luongo trade then someone like Raymond, Ballard, or even Booth could be removed. I was just being conservative and assumed futures only, because we would have no idea of the player coming over.
15K in extra cap space? What happens when you run into injuries?
LTIR only kicks in for long term injuries, if you have 2 forwards, or 2D or 1 of your goalies banged up you wouldn't be able to call anyone up to replace them.

That Gardiner > Rielly? You have your Luongo homer glasses trying to convince everyone that Luongo is worth more than Bozak and a 2nd, and have been doing it since last summer. It's sad.

Place one of the guys on LITR then. Give the player extra rest. Management can put whoever they like on LITR. Anyways it was a point that Canucks could keep their players, who knows how things actually shake up. You do know cap could end up being higher then 64.3. Fans have come back big time, making records. Many factors, as I said the point of this exercise is that the situation is not as dire as people think.

That's considering we keep Ballard, which I'd love to but his cap hit is just too much.
I'd assume we keep one of Raymond / Higgins and try squeeze in Ballard or if we get a roster player back from another team we'd have to move him.

Lol ok there. Calm down big guy. Pretty sure Luongo is better then Bozak +2nd. Maybe you should leave this thread if you aren't interested in Luongo. Open up a Gardiner value thread and have fun

Nobody wants Luongo. Won't be traded. Schneider is unproven like Reimer

Jensen, Connauton, Lack, and Corrado will challenge for spots next year which could result in cap savings.

Plus, when's the last time our team hasn't had a big money player injured to start the season? I'm thinking we will have some carry over injuries after the extended playoff run coming up in June!

Just curious, why does it list your roster as containing 25 players? Could this explain the 15k in cap space?

It doesn't have 25 players, not sure why the website stated that. Glitch or something.

Could you have possibly missed the point any further? I compared FLA's centers, Van's goalies and TO's defensemen. Keep up the good fight though.

Hahahah oh man. Have you ever even watched Rielly play besides maybe a couple world junior games? The kid has incredible skating, passing, intelligence, and strength. By your logic about prospect vs NHLer, Jake Gardiner is better than Seth Jones too right?
