LOL..EJ Hradek just called out Wild fans for tweeting him about leaving Brodin out of his top 5 for the Calder.

He said something along the lines of "I know he is a great player"

“I played with [Erik] Karlsson last year [in Ottawa],” Konopka said. “They’re different players, but both from Sweden. Arrogance and confidence are way different and you can see Erik Karlsson has confidence and you can start to see Brodin gain confidence, he’s not there yet.”

“Every game [Torrey Mitchell and me] look at each other and go, ‘Oh jeez! Did you see our kid?’" Konopka said.

"You think you’d get to a level where it’s going to become normal, but he keeps becoming better, that’s the scary thing.” Konopka continued. “There’s no player like him, he does so many things well. He’s a lot better player from Game One to Game 10 to Game 20.”

I can't wait for Brodin to be 23 filled out to about 205 pounds, and has added justa touch of nasty to his game.

until then BUST

Don't see the nasty coming at all. His emotions never seem to sway that way.

The beauty is defense is such a hard position to play. What Brodin is doing, you can't put in words. The way he plays is amazing. I don't think there has been a young defenseman that has made such an impact to the game defensively in a decade.

It's strange but I'm really not concerned about him winning the Calder even though I know he deserves it so far because I know a Calder will pale in comparison to the acheivments ahead for him in his career. I think his teammates are the ones most concerned about him getting the award, I doubt Jonas cares much about the Calder at all. He knows there's bigger fish in reach than that.

I personally don't want to see him reach 205lbs, it might be harmful to his sytle of game that relies on quickness. I think I would love to see him at 195lbs tops with emphaisis on conditioning so the Wild can have Suter AND Brodin lead the NHL in icetime.

Even if he changes numbers...pretty sure it'll still be better than a Barker jersey...
I asked him on twitter on once, but didnt get any answer..

Anyway, its cooler to show your support from the start?

Brodin won't develop the nasty to his game, his game is cerebral. What he did to Craig Smith in NSH is what his game is, rather then knocking a guy on his ass he'll make him look like a fool, pants him and then break his team out.

Now the only question is who's the next Brodin in this years draft

Also last year I really wanted Hampus Lindholm but the quacks had to get in the way of that plan

I didn't know his parents were there. That's pretty cool.

My only concern with Brodin effects all players: injuries.

Aside from that, I've seen enough to actually start calling this kid the next Lidstrom. I guess maybe his confidence gets shattered at some point and he regresses, but he is improving every game.

He's just like a very smart kid who can see something once and goes "oh, I get it now" and then he can just move onto the next task. If you watch his shots lately, he's already established the key to scoring in the NHL is (1) get shot off quick, (2) get it off the ground, and (3) pick one side off the goal.

At this point, if we draft any Swedish defenseman at all, I'm pleased with the pick.
