Nope. A bunch of Brodin heads measured 2x2'' spaced 1'' apart from each other.

I reckon it's more for the rest of the league's viewers than the guys/gals who watch him every game.

I like how nobody cares in the main board thread.

For the record, a lot of people were viewing that thread after I posted the article.

So worried about what kind of money he's going to be demanding if he continues to improve like this. By then I hope we have another good RH d-man that can play with Suter so Brodin can anchor that 2nd pairing. Don't want a Nashville situation where nearly all our money on defense is tied up in one d pairing.

I imagine something like the OEL deal.

Then again, it's still really far.

I'm more worried about an offer sheet

Could only get an offer sheet if the Wild fail to extend his deal before he becomes an RFA. I don't think the Wild will let it get that far.

they will just give him the ye old qualifying offer to make him unable to be offer sheeted while they work on a deal.

If i remember correctly at the draft Russo said that Brodin had a meeting with the Wild a day before and came out of that meeting saying he wanted this team. I don't see him causing any issues with contracting.

This just in: Flyers offer sheet Brodin for 8 years at $8 million per.

I must say that read the first pages in the 2011 Wild's 10th pick overall and then basically checking every 5th page was very funny although time consuming.

I've been unconvinced up until now that he could be considered for the Calder (due to his point production) but I have to say that I really do think that he should be considered top 3 in terms of Calder. I'd even go further and say that IMO he should be considered the guy to beat. I've been a fan of his since way back when he was playing in Sweden and always thought he'd be able to break right into a NHL lineup, but what he has done here has still exceeded my most "over-the-top positive" expectations.

Anyway, I know it will probably not go down that way, but I think he's been the most impressive rookie so far.

PS. Full disclosure, I'm an Edmonton fan so I guess I should be hoping for him to slow down so that our guys can move up... But in the end I can't make myself wish that anything goes bad for this kid.

The Hockey News had a laughable comment in the monthly Wild blurb in the April 1, 2013 issue. I know that magazine is written by Leaf fan-boys, but the blurb writters should at least watch games of the teams they are writting about.

Paraphrasing from memory here, but it basically said the Wild's lack of quality vets on the blueline has "forced" the Wild to prematurely put a green Brodin in the top pairing.

Hahah. Way to take a major, major positive on the Wild and try to turn it into a negative. Our blueline is young, but I have been extremely pleased with it this season.

Not disagreeing with you...My point is that it would be a tough pill to swallow for any team doing offer sheets on emerging stars (a big contract and big compensation).

That wasn't Nashville's problem at all. There problem was that they don't have any star forwards.

It is never a problem signing legit stars to star contracts. It is only problem when you sign non-stars or former stars to star contracts.
