Elbow in a fight or in the course of play?

Simmonds will likely go after him if he stays in the game

What point did you start watching? Been some excellent chances for both teams.

Anyway, definitely a bad hit by Erskine. Probably will get a game or two for it since he didn't get a penalty.

In a play, Simmonds tipped the puck to go around him and Erskine blatantly elbows him

I can't believe the refs missed the call. As blatant of a headshot as you will see.

It definitely was a flash knock out, Simmonds went limp and went into the "fencing position"

These refs are absolutely horrendous. A phantom boarding call on Rinaldo and a missed major penalty on Erskine. When are refs going to be disciplined for crappy officiating?

Can't really tell from the picture, but that was a vicious elbow. Erskine sticks it out right into his face as Simmonds is skating by. Definitely going to be a multiple game suspension.

On the replay ,you can clearly see an official looking RIGHT at the play. The officiating in this game has been amateurish, at best.

Clearly you are not paying attention. Rinaldo not on the ice with Erksine, but I doubt he is afraid of him.

From the very beginning. Closest opportunity was Ovie's shot where Bryz couldn't find it. Other than that just perimeter shots and lots of turnovers.

Simmonds has a tendency to bank the puck off the boards past the defender to himself. It's Ok when the defender is flatfooted standing still or playing the puck but when the opposing player comes up to play the body he is vulnerable to a killshot. That is what happened.

Erskiine was just reacting as he didn't have his head up either.

The two players were never on the ice at the same time. Also, Rinaldo is like 5'10". Erskine is a 6'4". Rinaldo is more of an energy guy than a fighter.

Picture doesn't show it all

Simmonds chips it past erskine and goes to skate past him and Erskine throws up the elbow to catch him

So, now that Rinaldo fought Hendricks, and got thrown out, Erskine will be too scared to do that again....

Definitely a suspension. The Caps announcer said Erskine "protected" himself, that it was a clear no-call, etc. "Things happen so fast". What a clown. I muted him.

If he were knocked out, he would've displayed some sort of disorientation, which he didn't. Stop making this out to be more than it is. It was a cheap shot, not even suspensionable in my opinion. Deserved a double-minor for drawing blood and that's it.

ETA: Rinaldo's boarding penalty and ejection for fighting were complete BS.

Erskine definitely looked up and saw Simmonds coming. He knew what he was doing. A good sized fine at the very least.

Blatant, disgusting, has to be a suspension. That was painful to watch.

I would love to know what deserves a suspension in your eyes
