Thanks, Dr. Recchi. There are plenty of people that start feeling worse a day or two after the initial hit. There are plenty of players that have concussions and keep playing the game. Just look at Crosby after he was nailed in that winter classic game. Keep thinking you know best about concussions though.

That needs to be a suspension, regardless of injury or no injury.

Yeah, a 5 game suspension is nice but how does that help the Flyers who are now down a man? The puck was right there, how do all 4 officials miss a blatant elbow to the face?

On the NBC feed on the 3rd replay of the hit where it's very close up.... It's not even like Erskine just sticks his elbow out to clip Simmonds... He actually throws it.

You seem to know quite a bit yourself.

And Crosby could get a concussion from getting hit by a beach ball, so he and Simmonds aren't really comparable.

Jesus CHRIST! Normally I pass on these threads as the game can get chippy and I don't want to get in on the cry fest but that was ****ing BRUTAL. That right there has nothing to do with hockey. You can really **** a guy up doing that. I seriously hope that he gets a minimum of 10 games for that. The fact that there was no penalty there blows my ****ing mind.....and I don't even like the Flyers.

Dirty. That puck needs to sit for at least 2 games.

He panicked and elbowed someone in the head? Great excuse.

I think he deserves 3+ for this easy.

I hope Sheriff Shanny drops the hammer on Erskine for this one. Clearly no intent to actually hit him with the body and intentionally got the elbow up. Cowardly.

Do you watch combat sports? Simmonds went stiff and his legs buckled, he fell stiff and his arms went straight out for a moment, any ref in an mma fight would stop the fight and call it a KO/TKO, I didn't say he was knocked out cold, but it certainly was a flash KO, you don't know what the word means apparently.

Noticed his head hit the ice after the hit, good thing his chinstrap was on properly or he could have been in serious trouble...

It was Luke Schenn, he skated the distance of the ice and had words with him but nothing more, he should have dropped them, even if Erskine is tougher.

That's as cheap as you can get with elbowing someone. 5+ games.

I'm a Caps fan and I thought it was dirty. Reminded me of the chicken wing that ****** Bourque layed on Nicky Backstrom last year. Bourque got 5 games, but Bourque was a repeat offender(?). This would be Erskine's 1st suspension worthy bad play I can remember. So 2 games, maybe 3.

Personally, if Simmonds misses multiple games with an injury from this dirty hit, Erskine should sit for as long as Simmonds out. Felt that way with Bourque last year. Only way to get these BS dirty hits out of the game.

"The signs and symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent," reads the very first sentence regarding concussions on the Mayo Clinic's web page. Stop being so internet tough guy.

Bourque also knocked out Seabrook on a boarding earlier that season or at the end of the previous season.

I agree on the 2-3 games. Seemed like a poor reaction instead of a deliberate elbow like Keith's (5 games).
