Yuengling has an Oktoberfest style now. I heard about it last year but never saw it. They got it in at Market District this week, and was thinking of trying some.

Got the fall variety of Saranac. It's not too bad. Has 6 types, Pumpkin, Oktoberfest, Black Lager, Irish Red, Harvest Ale, and Pale Ale. Nothing too special, but they're all decent.

Been on the lookout for Pumking and Woodchuck Fall seasonal but no luck yet.

Go north to Erie and you'll be able to get Pumking. Hell, it is already on tap at quite a few bars up here.

My Whole Foods in Cleveland got 31 cases in and has been on the shelf for 2 weeks. I tried to not build the display yet since I think it's too early, but they made me haha.

Rogue has a pumpkin beer this year in a bomber. I had it last week because we could only get 2 cases in. Pretty solid beer. I found it to be fairly similar to Dogfish Head Punkin. Definitely worth the buy.

Westerners, what are some good Pumpkin beers out there? Most of the well known pumpkin beers, from what I can tell, are from the northeast/midwest. Other than Rogue, I can't recall trying any other ones from the west.

Ok, first fall beer run of the season (in mid summer...). Store didn't have quite as much out yet as I had hoped (fav store is a 30 minute drive), they're still trying to push out the remainder of the Summer seasonals, but they still had a decent amount out. Will have to go back in a couple of weeks.

Everyone is usually pretty split on pumpkin style beers, seems like people either love them or hate them. I really enjoyed some of them last year, and wanted to stock up before they're gone. The Fat Jack was gone by early September last year, as I totally missed out on it, and I cleaned out the Pumking that was left shortly after that.

Southern Tier Imperial Pumking Ale (5 bottles)

Samuel Adams Fat Jack Double Pumpkin Ale (3 bottles)

Stone R&R Coconut IPA (collaboration with Robert & Ryan / Rip Current) (1 bottle)

Schlafly Pumpkin Ale (2 6-packs)

Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash Stout (6 pack)
This one is so new, it's not even on their website yet. If done right, this could be great, in the fridge now.

Samuel Adams Harvest Collection (2 12 packs)
-Hazel Brown
-Harvest Pumpkin Ale
-Octoberfest
-Ruby Mild
-Latitude 48 IPA
-Boston Lager

Mix Your Own 6-pack
-2 O'Fallon Pumpkin Ale
-2 New Belgium Pumpkick
-1 Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Wild
-1 Lagunitas Maximus IPA

Also grabbed a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka on sale. Not a huge vodka guy, but thought I'd give it a shot.

Just realized I forgot to get a bottle of the Stone 17th anniversary...ah well, should be there in a couple weeks.

Wow, drinking the Crown Valley Pumpkin Smash Stout right now.

Pouring into the glass, the smell was excellent. Nice pumpkin and spice, some cocoa, and a bit of the 10.6% alcohol is present as well. I don't know how else to explain this other than it smells like Halloween night. Pumpkins, chocolate, and alcohol.

Tastes just like it smells, like a really rich dessert with a nice kick of alcohol that is only slightly noticeable. A very nice stout, the chocolate pumpkin combination goes very well together.

Hopefully they'll still have some when I go back in a couple weeks, will definitely grab another sixer or two.

Did my run of pumpkin beers so far and I'm not impressed. Both erie and Arcadia put out overpowering clove swill and tried to call it pumpkin. Bull ****. If you're gonna do a pumpkin beer, follow the **** blueprint. Dogfish, Southern Tier, everything is a distant fourth (yes that gap is intentional.)

Dogfish and Southern Tier seem to be the main two pumpkins that are MIA in the Pittsburgh area. Most of the other standards are already in stores. I used the beer locator on the Southern Tier site, and it listed it as delivered to several places around here, but now it does not (I went to the Giant Eagle originally listed since it's close by and they didn't have it anyway). They told me next week though last week I was told this week at the latest. Perhaps they're trying to clear out some of the summer stuff.

I did try Penn's new Pumpkin Roll Ale on tap last weekend, and it was a pretty good. A little sweet, but it grew on me as I drank it.

For those that have had the Elysian Pumpkin beers, which do you feel is the consensus best of the 3? I've had the Dark of the Moon Pumpkin Stout last year, but never got a chance to try the Great Pumpkin Ale or Night Owl Pumpkin Ale.

Great Pumpkin is easily the best of the three. It's the only pumpkin beer that I really get excited for.

So how do the purchases work in PA since you can't sell alcohol in a grocery store? Is it like you are getting beer to go from their "bar"?

over the last 2-3 years PA has designated certain giant eagles to sell 6 packs. the beer section is just an open area next to produce. we even have whole foods now, which has 6 beers on tap so you can get your fill while grocery shopping. catching up to the rest of the world us quakers are...

Interesting. I knew about the Whole Foods situation since my wife and I work there (she helped open the store in Wexford).

Picked up a 3 bottles of Pumking at Market District on lunch. I'm always surprised at the price, there isn't much of a markup if at all compared to other six packs and bombers (when looking at the price of a case).

Two people behind me had at least a dozen in their cart.

I got the last 6 Pumking bottles at the Market District in Robinson on Tuesday night around 6:00. There was quite a run on them there. They were only priced at $7.99, which was absurdly reasonable considering the demand.

Yeah that's cheap. They are 8.99 everywhere in Cleveland.

Where the hell is here? That's insanely cheap for any bomber, let alone Southern Tier.

They had more Pumking today at the Settlers Ridge Market District. I saw the price for a case at $88.99 at one distributor, so it's virtually the same price for single bottles here.

They had Dogfishhead Punkin today as well, so I picked up a 4 pack of that.
