I know people are saying that this is the real last season but so far I see no reason why it should be. He is a top-6 winger (a top offensive talent in the entire NHL) and still absolutely loves the game. Having his family doing so well in California can't hurt. This is a guy that could realistically go another 2 seasons at minimum.

He said he's thinking about giving it another go. I can't remember what he said exactly, but it left me thinking he's definitely coming back for one more at least.

It was his 4th post/crossbar this season where he had the goalie beat cleanly.

Selanne was playing with two bad knees, he himself said that the lockout saved his career.

Yeah, that was the case but despite them being a tandem that doesn't fully explain why Kariya wasn't exactly stellar in Colorado. I remember coaching somehow being part of the problem.

I dont view Kariyas stats that season as very strange considering how he had slown down even before that, and then after the lockout did'nt really dominate Kariya-style even with the "new" rules incorporated. I mean, 36 in 51 in 2003/04 was'nt THAT bad.

Tony Granato wasn't/isn't exactly a HOF level coach...

That year was beyond frustrating, they've had such a strong team and they've ruined it all by giving it in Granato's hands.

On paper the offense was Hall of Fame. If you have Kariya-Forsberg-Selanne (In their prime) skating in second line, it is looking pretty good.

One of the most disappointing teams, ever.

Selanne and Kariya were on the 3rd line if I'm not mistaken, just thinking about that team makes me wanna puke, that whole season is my most dissapointing hockey related memory.

Effin Tony Granato.
