I can't understand why Kipper is starting. We need to put ourselves in the best possible place to win games and it's insanity to try the same things over and over and expect different results.

If you apply the logic of changing the forward lines with hopes of finding a winning forward line-up, then why not the goalie line-up?

Because forward lineups involve chemistry and goalies are either better or worse than the other.

I think the odds favour Kipper game his game sorted out rather than running with Irving just to see what happens.

We're not at the point where we switch goalies yet. That's a panic move. We're five games in. As frustrating as this season has been the team as a whole isn't playing terribly. They are suffering from bad 5 minute stretches and mediocre play from their best players. They need to stick with the program right now and let our best guys sort their game out.

I agree why even have Irving if we aren't going to use him especially after Kipper gets shelled in a terrible game.

Hawk fan here.

Enjoying listening to a different take on the game tonight. Would rather be here then in the other GDT.

Keys to beating the Hawks;

Dont run and gun with them
Crawford has possibly the worst five hole in the entire history of the NHL.
Play at least for a shoot out and the Flames will win.

Enjoy the game, everybody.

We aren't switching goalies, the backups are there for a reason. They come in to relieve the starter when they aren't playing the best. I think Kipper needs to watch a game from the bench like he did last year after his bad stretch. He came in and played better. No point of just sitting Leland where he already proved that he can be effective in the NHL albeit having a very brief stint.

For some reason this came immediately to mind:

There's still a pretty big step down from Kipper to Irving. I think you always go with your best guy, even if he's not playing that way. Let Kipper try and play his way out of his funk.

Same logic as for not benching Cammalleri, really.

So far this year that isn't apparent at all.

I recall Irving having a pretty good season with us last year. I'd just be hesitant to play since he recent appearances in Abbotsford were far less than impressive. What was it? 3 goals allowed on 8 shots? Being pulled almost every time in the first period. Ouch.

Idk what to expect tonight..

I do think all the blow it up posts are a little knee jerkish, we have new players and a new coach and a struggling star goalie. The 15 game mark is when I'll start to really panic or have some hope this season.

GFG!

He rarely saw action even in practice as he was the third goalie, I would rather risk putting him in then see another game like last game.

I'm going to miss this one. So I'll just say "Backlund with a hat trick."

Chris Butler sucks.

Kipper will have his best game of the season tonight. But now that I think about it, that's not that impressive Solid performance from Kipper tonight. Book It

It wouldn't take much

Yea I think he will bounce tonight too but I would start Irving to deliver a message that everyone has to perform or they are replaced.

I think that sitting Cammy, starting Irving would be a good start.

I agree I would start Irving tonight and warn Cammy he is next, if we get the same Cammy then he sits and Comeau take his spot.

I dont know. Ktuger on the second line is so much fail. Great PK'er when teamed up with Frolik, but pretty useless the rest of the time.

And not to be obtuse, but whats up with the Flames? I like them and think they are a few pieces away from being a contender.
