Holy ****. What a beast.
Basically everything he was doing last year...not doing it this year. He isn't looking to dangle through players anymore, he's not looking to spin the world backwards. He is using his speed to get open, and he is doing a great job of drawing defenders to him so that he can set up linemates. Very impressed with what Duchene has been doing thus far.

I also like that they are continuing his PK development from the Spengler, with his speed he could be an absolutely dangerous threat on the PK for the Avs.

Had a good game
-Duchene (very impressed with his game)
-Parenteau (was really physical!)
-EJ (was skating hard and caried the puck well, too bad he didn`t get more luck on the PP)

Had a ok game
-Mcginn looked good with Duchene
-Hunwick was ok, solid in the defensive zone.
-Varly, I think he was lucky it wasn`t 2/3-0 after the first, would have not been his fault though, but the Oilers had a hard time finishing.
-Mitchell
-Hejduk looked like he regained his speed.

Looked bad
-Statsny.... really useless I`m sorry, stupid penalty at the end that could have costed us the game.
-O`Byrne, can`t handle the puck, can`t skate, he hits hard but still...

RNH is awful on faceoffs but 67% is still impressive. Duchene won some key faceoffs in the third period.

It looked like he was starting to shoot it when the buzzer went.

I've got to admit, really thought Hemsky brought it this game, silky smooth when he is on his game. Also thought Dubnyk came up huge against the Avs.

Yeah, this is true. Although, I would think it's pretty dumb if one of the avs did that, it's still common in the NHL and not realy an issue.

Wait, is this separate from the freezing the puck in the defensive zone delay of game rule?

Smid was a foot away from Duchene and didn't do a thing, so I don't think most of them cared.

He is still spinning down low and doing a lot of dangling but he's smarter about it. He doesn't do it everytime like he did in the past. The speed is the major thing, he looks faster than everyone else on the ice. I wonder if that's all him or maybe players are still a bit rusty. I wasn't a fan of him being on the PK at the beginning of the season but he's doing a great job.

Yakupov not upset at the loss. He was upset at Duchene for scoring into the empty net after the horn signalled the end.

Got disagree with these assessments. Varly was very solid, 1GA puts you in the good game status. And Mcginn had a goal and an assist and was our 2nd best forward after Duchene.

The buzzer sounded two seconds after Duchene shot. Not that it matters. Yakupov acted like a punk no matter when the buzzer went.

I'd love for the Avs to get Smid if he hits UFA. He'd fit in really well with the team IMO, and could give EJ the freedom to roam. That and he can actually skate. This is assuming the Avs can trade some of their excess defenders right now.

Yeah that Yakupov - glad he's here to police players showing up their opponents.

I love irony.

Good game guys/girls - was honestly the most thorough beating I've seen the Oilers take this year.

I also thought that Hunwick played really well tonight. If Hunwick could play like he did tonight consistently than I would be all for him being on the roster. When he uses his skating to cut down opposing player's chances he looks really good, when he waits he gets abused.

Yep. I've seen several players being called for hand passing the puck between their legs on a faceoff.

Gotta love the Oilers board....complaining about their 3 games in 3.5 days(uh, we've had the same schedule) whining about the refs, and one fan even said "Move over Vancouver, there's a new diving team in town. Weak ass calls all day for Colorado."

On Varly, i wasn`t blaming him, just that the Oilers could have scored some more goals in the first.
In the first period, our defense was pretty bad, and Varly was left alone once again. I agree that Varly was solid.

Too bad we scored all of our goals while not on the PP, in fact we scored one coming off of the PK and the other with their goalie pulled after a PK. Soooo....
