Being 4-4 on the season after three home games and five away games with some pretty terrifying special teams numbers isn't that bad.

7.4% PP in 27 PP attempts
76,2% PK in 42 PP attempts for the other teams

Ouch.

EJ was fantastic but he seriously cannot shoot the puck. It's the only part of his game, that I have never been impressed by. It has never shown any signs of improvement either. He needs to spend like a whole offseason on just timing the puck to go through defenders either that or get someone who can blast the puck and let EJ be the set up man. It's reeking havoc on the PP( not the only problem),

Duchene oh my Duchene. This is the player that I saw the first 2 years in the NHL. It's become quite clear that defenders cannot handle his speed, he's creathing 2 or 3 semie/breakaways a game. He's a little snake bitten now in terms of cashing in on his chances but the goals will come and he'll explode offensively. His all around game has grown by leaps and bounds as well. Right now his defense is as if not more impressive than his offensive game. If there's a silver lining with ROR holding out it's that Duchene has to play a 200 feet game. He also went 16-8 on the FO cirlce who was that guy ripping on him before saying he should go back to playing wing? I'd also like to see Sacco maintain his ice time... not 25 mins but more 22-23.

Not sure why some of you guys are bashing Stastny today. He had probably his best game, a much better effort and jump to his game. I'm just surprised he shot in the empty net. Hopefully, he builds on this effort.

PAP he wasn't brought in to score but I'm not complaining. What a bad signing by Shermy eh Bricky?

I thought Hejda played a solid game and I think ROB will get his game back once he shakes off the rust.

I wouldn't plan the parade after this win but it's a step in the right direction. The PP needs a lot of work and please start with taking Duchene off the ****ing point moron. Just imagine the damage he could do down low, at his best? He'd probably have 5 goals by now.

Agreed, he has a fantastic shot, but doesn't know when to use it. Plus I don't know why EJ is on the left side during the PP? Karlsson is right handed and plays LD on the PP.

If I was EJ and people wanted to block my shots, I would shoot as hard as I can to injury them for blocking it.

I meant this is probably the best game he has had so far. I understand he was probably better offensively against Dallas, but damn he beasted on the draws and played defense.

Likely one of those people.

No issues here with what happened, the horn sounded a split second earlier.

Really hope Landy gets back soon and plays with Stastny. Excited to see how those two can get along.

I was just perusing the EDM thread for the game, and man are a bunch of their fans arrogant. Saying stuff like I can't believe we just lost to the Avs they're terrible...coming from the team that just had 3 straight #1 picks.

They are also *****ing about the lack of scoring they are getting from their top 6 which I find hilarious. Mainly because their top 6 is pretty freaking talented and actually played ok against us today, they had a few good chances they just didn't cash in on.

If I was an EDM fan I'd be most concerned about the poor defense they had today allowing 40 shots, their lack of physicality, and the fact they just got completely out worked by basically an AHL team.

I would like to see him back with that Russian guy if they're keeping McGinn with Duchene.

+ Hunwick looked really solid today

- Hall still sucks
- ROB is like a train wreck carrying francium.
- McGinn not hitting the post/crossbar, gotta lead the league in this category.
- PP, OMG it was terrible

Oh I love Yapukov, but his ending "thing" with Duchene is pretty hypocritical.

Also there were some weak calls that went against Oilers, but we didn't score so they can't whine about it.
Avs announcers talked about it, hes had 8 shots go off the crossbar/post. The closest guys are like 4+ people tied for 4 posts/crossbars. So yeah... Hes been snake-bitten and is leading the league there by far, nice to see his play being rewarded though with some points. I still think hes played well, done his job down low hitting and gets open for shots.

McGinn - GP 8 G 1 A 4 SOG 19 Hits 24 +/- EVEN

Last two games? G1 A3 SOG 9 Hits 4 +/- 4

Hes slowed down on his hits a little bit but picked up his shots, I think he needed to shake off the rust. That's the good thing about McGinn, he still fights and hits and pisses the other team off, when hes not scoring he has an impact.

I think as he starts to get back into game shape we will see his speed return even more than it has the last 2 or 3 games. Sacco gave him 21:33 tonight for his improvement over the last couple games.

Yeah, they're nuts! They're acting like the difference between us and them is like the difference between Chicago/San Jose and last year's Blue Jackets.
Healthy, we have a better line-up and they're acting like it's embarrassing to lose to us

Guys, my "Eating-a-pizza=win" was broken today.
The first 7 games were spot on, but today I didn't eat one and we won.

Well better this way at least.

Honestly, from start to finish for 80% if the game we dominated them and never let up. Varly made key stops and I thought he should of been one of the stars, Duchene should have been the first star EASY, but defense is thankless.

How about us not sitting back after gaining a lead? Twice now we have proved we could keep up our play after getting a go-ahead goal. That **** was hella frustrating last year.

The only reason Duchene didn't hear the whistle and shot the puck anyway.

Why are our GDT's the same thread as our PGT?

Anyways, we missed a game? Summary anyone other than Yakupov and the goals? Lol at Hemsky's terrible defending on Duchene on that pass to Parenteau.

Mile High Hockey usually does some good pregame/postgame stuff. Every once in a while they post this anatomy of a goal thing as well which is pretty cool. They also have a very active gameday thread.

Don't look now, but our assist-machine PAP is 3rd in the league in goals scored.

Small sample size, but don't rain on my parade okay!

Duchene now has 9 pts. in 8 games and he is a +8. He does not have a PP point this season, so by my calculations, it means that he has been on the ice for one EV strength goal against in the first 8 games.

Apparently it took him 28 games to get 5 goals last season. Very unexpected.
