I hate *insert player here*. The entire team outside Dubnyk looked terrible tonight. Sure a couple guys had legs but it was a bad game by all accounts. We always seem to lose afternoon games. It's like they don't think they are real games.

There still is a difference when one is on the road for that time span and the other is coming home.

It's not an excuse as to why they lost, but you can't expect top notch hockey on the road each game.

There's no doubt that they're inconsistent and struggling to find full form. And yes, we're sick of losing.

But the number of bridge jumpers here is crazy.

You know the drill - had they scored late to tie it and won in o/t with another Yakupov goal of exuberance, there'd be far fewer complainers about work ethic, and the difference would have been only 1 minute.

Methinks it isn't as bad as some think it is.

Complete nonsense. No point in arguing with people who are determined to hate on a guy even when he CLEARLY had an excellent game.

this was also the Av's 3 games in 3.5 days

oh, and they're missing key pieces

We have not had an offensive explosion yet,

Hemsky and yakupov were todays best players.

Speed is a much bigger issue than size right now IMO. A guy like Hartikainen is a beast down low, but he needs some faster line-mates that buy some time to let him get into his spots.

Jones and Paajarvi should help this team out quite a bit.

He still generates and creates on the ice, he's just not burying his own chances. Lots of uncharacteristic shots going over the net too.

I thought Gagner had his poorest game of the season so far.

The Avalanche had to deal with the exact same schedule. The effort level was night and day.

No. He's playing solid defense and creating plays with his passing as well as getting his chances. He seems to not be his usual self with pinpoint precision on his passes and shots, but he is playing good hockey right now. We just need to get the top PP unit going and IMO his confidence will start to grow.

Hopefully Sam Gagner keeps scoring, so then we can trade him for a bigger forward that can play in the top-six.

This. It's gonna take time. We haven't seen the best of this team yet, no even close. This season is a transition year, they will not finish 29th or 30th. They will improve, how much is the question. This was an ugly game, with no finish. It's not gonna be all unicorns and roses this year, there's gonna be some ugliness, today was some of that. Patience not panic.

When the games get gritty, the bigger team will usually win. Colorado is a big team.

Our bottom 6 needs to get bigger.

Agreed, he usually owns Colorado but tonight was not his night. Hall IMO is getting too easily frustrated out there and as a result he forces bad plays. He needs to learn to channel that anger into hitting guys IMO.

40 shots against an AHL team is still alarming.

Right. Because guys standing wide open six feet from our goaltender waiting for tap ins is clearly Hemsky's responsibility.

We've lost games to two weak division opponents, but they were games on the road.

Goaltending that is playing above a sustainable level.

We literally saw this exact same **** to start last year. Oilers got off to a great start but it was on the backs of unsustainable play.

Games like this give us an indication to how far away this team is from being a legit contender. They were completely outclassed for more than 1/2 the game by a team that was down 4/6 top 6 forwards. 5th straight game this team has failed to register even 10 shots in a 3rd period.

This is the same kind of stuff we have seen every year over the past 3 seasons. They have a great game against San Jose and then lay an absolute egg against a team that has no business (given their current line up) out playing us.

Avalanche played Wednesday, Thursday and today too. The excuse doesn't fly for us that we were tired.

Krueger shoot set up one of these during practice and force RNH to take shots at it for a couple hours
