Philly gets stronger with Gagne. A team loaded with offense getting MORE offense.
Montreal fleeces Dalls and gets Michael Ryder, a great RHS that I would love on this team.

OK SHERO, you going to sit around and trade for a defensemen or are you actually going to try and get some talent on this team, like the aboive 2 teams just did? You know, 2 Eastern Conference teams that we are battling with.

(can't ******* believe Montreal got Ryder back.. for Cole, who is atrocious)

I doubt Shero is worried about Gagne who was being healthy scratched in LA a lot. Montreal had to make the deal they made because Cole wanted out. It really wasn't about upgrading their team. The fact they held out for a pick probably is an indication that they feel they may have slightly downgraded their team short-term.

Gagne isn't his former self. He's had injuries and doesn't play as well as he did. He will be a bit more offense for them yes, but don't expect him to break out and scored 50 points in 50 games. Ryder would've been nice though.

Where is this "Cole is atrocious" stuff coming from? The dude scored 35 goals last year. I don't think it was a smart trade for Dallas, but they hardly got fleeced. Ryder was likely going to walk from Dallas in the summer and they got a currently underperforming but valuable asset locked up for 2 more years. He may be overpaid a bit, but if he can score 25 goals, 50 points, I think it benefits the Stars.

By the way, last year Cole and Ryder had nearly identical stats.

Great deal for the Habs, they got rid of Cole's 2 extra years on contract at age what 35 and even picked up a 3rd rounder. Really don't get why the Stars made this move

"Tripping a kid"

This guy is definitely getting [abused] first night in the slammer.

Damn, Cole did have 35 last year.. anyways every time I've watched him play he's been terrible so I guess he plays well when I don't watch or something.

And I don't expect Gagne to put up crazy numbers, but he is a skilled player going to a skilled team. He'll do fine there assuming he stays healthy. (why can't we take chances like this?) 3.5 million on an expiring contract.

Cole is an unlikeable ****...which clouds people's judgement of how good of a player he actually is.

It's pretty mind-blowing how similar their statistics really are. Both guys had a career-high of 35 goals last year after having a previous high of 30. The only difference is that Ryder's third best goal season was also a 30 goal season, while Cole's was merely 29. Mind you he missed 11 games that year.

Ryder is an extremely inconsistent player and one who, until last season really, had a reputation as a contract player - he only played well when he was up for a new contract. Cole has suffered a series of serious injuries that robbed him of a ton of games between 2006-10.

Ryder's shot can be lethal, but he's still never really been the sniper that this board seems to think he is. He's averaged 25.6 goals per 82 games throughout his career...Cole has averaged 25.2 per 82.

In a weird scheduling quirk, the Ducks and Coyotes play each other 3 straight. March 2, 4, and 6. The first two in PHX and the last one in ANA. Mini playoff series.

Yah the announcers were talking about that last night in Vancouver. Called it a "baseball series". Crazy things happen after a lockout.

Most we've had is back to back against the Devils although we have to play the Bolts after the Canes.

Not sure which game I want to watch tonight, the Montreal/Toronto or the Washington/Philly; Two teams that I don't mind, or two teams that I enjoy seeing lose (though one will obviously have to win tonight).

Are all NHL'ers owners of large corporations?

Ovechkin was hilarious on the first Flyers goal. Was he even trying?

2-0 Flyers. Nice one Washington. Always had the Flyers as getting into the play-offs. Still think they will.

I'm trying to think about Alex Ovechkin in 3 years when he's 30 years old...will he be down to being a 50-55 point guy by then? Talk about regression.

Only think I admire about him is he's only missed 21 of his teams games over the past 8 seasons, missing more than 4 only once. I'd sure love it if Geno or Crosby had that kind of health.

Horrible, horrible boarding call on Mike Brown in the Habs / Leafs game.
