I have watched 4 or 5 sabres games this season and more last year and Ennis has game-breaking ability. He deserves a shot on the top line. And Cody's skating ability hampers his ability to play against the best players in the league to a point where even if he sees a play developing he's often simply not able to stop it.

Give Ennis a 5 game tryout on that top line and watch what happens.

OT, but: Ennis is exactly what the top line DOESN'T need. They're at their best when Vanek has the puck and can create or score. Cody has much better hockey sense/zone awareness than ennis and is better without the puck on his stick (as is often the case since vanek and pominville are extremely dangerous as a duo). Ennis needs the puck on his stick to be dangerous. With that being said, Hodgson is still a good playmaker and has a good shot as well. He's averaging a PPG, what more do you want from him? And he's set up his linemates well and, more importantly, he's doing it at even strength. Ennis has been playing a bit better lately, but he's not what the top line needs to be working. Plus, that whole line (Van-Hodgson-Poms) is averaging over a PPG, why break it up?

I doubt any other coach could do better with the teams Buffalo had during his tenure. Are people trying to force magics from the coaches? It's as simple as this: Crappy team and decent results= coach is not the problem but fire scouts and GM. Stacked team with bonafide stars, roleplayers in a good mix but zero results= fire the coach.

I think Ruff has consistently done well with what he has to work with. So fire him just for the sake of firing him, and roll the dice with someone new? Why? Vanek, Pominville, and Miller aren't going to win you a cup all on their own.
