And they will then assure us of the usual 9th place finish. Huzzah. Give up the ghost. Start over.

Touche.

I for one would like to see the little guy back in the Blue and White, but I don't see it happening unfortunately.

Don't understand why this already hasn't been done. Bozak has been handed the first line role on a silver platter since he got here, try a change.

So you would offer 12.8m a year to getzlaf, that's over 3 million more than ovie makes. I don't think we will ever see that happen, especially with the lowered salary cap.

I see two flaws with this.

A. Kadri get's overexposed facing tougher match ups with more ice time and higher defensive zone starts

or

B. Kadri's FO game still isn't where it needs to be to take 20~ draws a night.

I'd offer that for Getz personally, not liking what I'm seeing from Perry so far, tough to say how much that Hart/Rocket? (Don't remember which trophy) was influenced by Getzlaf.

I would happily offer that, even with the reduced salary cap. The guy is big and plays like it. He's 27 years old. He has won a Stanley Cup. He is everything this team needs down the middle.

Players like Getzlaf don't grow on trees. So when the opportunity presents itself to get a player of this calibre, you can't pass it up. It's that simple.

I agree getzlaf he exactly what this team needs, but I'm just pointing out that 12.8 is crazy for getzlaf. I couldn't see him getting over 8, which is getting close to crosby, malkin, ovechkin type salaries.

He'll happily get $8m from any number of teams around the league. And if he waits until July 1st, he'll get it from Anaheim as well. But I want Ryan Getzlaf in Toronto.

And fortunately for Getzlaf, Crosby or Malkin aren't free agents. Supply and demand.

3, you don't break up a line that is working, to try and fix one that is not.

A man has one shoe.

He wishes for a long time that he had another shoe to wear.

One day, he meets a man who offers him a shoe for his other foot, but demands the price be the shoe on his foot.

The man strangely accepts this offer and forgets for a while that he has become no better than he was before...

cool story bro'd in next post...

With the Cap dropping by 6 million after this season you can expect Getz to fetch around 7 million depending on the term maybe a 6 year 40-45 mill deal he wont touch Crosby/Ovi money...Malkin will when his deal ends.

There are three ways to get a first line center: UFA, draft and trade. This much is obvious. Getzlaf will never reach UFA, he will resign. There are NO first line centermen to be had via trade right now, except Statsny, if he is a first line center. That leaves the draft, this draft in particular, that has 4 potential first line centers. The solution to me seems as obvious as how to get one. If the leafs lose enough that you can get one, then to do it. Otherwise, you offer up Morgan Reilly to the team that has a young first line center and wanted Seth Jones.

except the #1 C from the draft would likely need 3 to 5 yrs to be a #1 NHL C

Oh your out to lunch, sorry.

Parise/Suter are both pulling down 10m per cash the first 8 years.

Weber is pulling down 11.5m per on the first 8.

The cap only droped by 6m per.

That 6m will not correlate to a drop off of 3, 4,5m per for the star players.

The 6m drop will come from 2nd, 3rd tier players.

The stars will always get paid.

Getz/ Perry will get 7,8 years in the range of 8.5m per.

Any chance Patrik Berglund could be had? He's not a 1st line C yet but he'd probably be the best option down the middle on this roster.

Backstrom from the Caps, I'd prefer his long term contract over say Luongos

That would assume the Caps have given up on their core, which I don't see happening.
