Is that the full name? They used to be called the Marlboros and also referred to as the Marlies.

Right on. So when did they decide the name?

I was just watching LeafsTV yesterday and they showed the Baby Leafs brass with John Ferguson Jr. there too in a meeting and they were going over a list of names to call the team.

And btw, Ferguson came up with a really ridiculous one that I thought, he suggested Leafs2k. Not sure if it was a joke but everybody was somewhat laughing after he said it.

I also heard Lakeshore Leafs and the Toronto Traitors. When the Traitors was suggested somebody else responded saying that the name means too much like being a traitor and won't be received too well.

I think initially he was kinda serious but when everybody started laughing, he laughed too brusing it off as kind of a joke.

Oh well, his strengths may not be in the Marketing and Advertising fields because he's too focused on his one and only strength which is hockey? Works for me.

To be honest, so far I haven't been too impressed with JFJ's hockey wisdom.

That Leetch trade was awful, and I'm not too fond of the Francis acquisition..

We only Francis for only a 4th..it wasn't that bad.

But for the most part I agree, his trades to date haven't been anything to write home about. He seems more of a business guy who will excel at other things. He's been good in terms of adding to the scouting group, lets hope it comes through.

That what you said right there will be more important than trades.
And that is how he will build the scouting group and how the scouting group does in the drafts.

If we start building with the drafts, we won't need to make many major deals.

Currently it is really hard to make a trade with the Leafs. It seems we have to give up so much youth to make any kind of trade.

Yeah, but not just amateur scouting...lets hope Craig Button helps in the pro-scouting too (which would indirectly help with trades since its about how much you value other NHL players)...

Oh ok I get it now..some of those posts were hilarious, not sure where I was at that time.

The Messenger's post was quite funny, he's a real comedian lately.

Must be the time difference.

The March 1st article date came out 4 hours later for us guys on the west coast, then Frankie in St. Johns who probably read it because his Filet-of-Fish for breakfast was wrapped in it ..

I reserve judgement on Button so far.

Reason why is because I have yet to find out whether he was one of the many Calgary brass members who laughed in Vaive's face when Vaive said that Martin St. Louis will be a regular scorer in the NHL. Vaive was the only one in the Calgary system who believed in the little guy.

Speaking of Vaive, I have a slight inkling that he will be a future Toronto Maple Leaf coach...I would love it. He should be involved with the Leafs somehow and not just LeafsTV. Get em in there and start grooming him.

Back in November? Wow!

That's what I was wondering is that why haven't I seen it in any websites that they decided on the 'Marlies' name?

So you're saying that it's not official yet?

They didn't decide on it in November. The first news reports came less than a month ago. Frankie's just delussional.
