I like Oshie a lot more, but it really comes down to team needs, imo.

Until this year, I'd have said Richards. I think Oshie is at the point where he is now a better player than Richards.

Oshie is fantastic defensively, and his offense is noticeably improved this season. I'm ready to give him the nod over Richards.

Huge blues fan here, but I'm going with Mike Richards AINEC. Although, if Richards isn't able to put up more than 55 points per season in the next few years with the Kings, I will change my mind. Maybe his 80 point season a few years back was just a product of him playing on the Flyers.

I love Oshie, but it's Richards. Maybe Oshie can close the gap or even surpass Richards in the future, but right now it is Richards.

I too think Richards although AINEC does not fit this one...I would not be surprised in the least if this year Oshie closes the gap and they are even.

Could have something to do with his point totals his last 3 years and his season last year and the fact that Oshie's last 2 seasons he has shown big progress and he is carrying it over to this year.

Like I said I pick Richards but I dont think its as big a gap currently as some might...Oshie could very well close the gap this year...They both bring the same stuff to the table so I actually think these two guys are very comparable.

Definitely Richards right now (judging off of last year), but Oshie has been dominant on the ice this year. A lot of people are talking about Tarasenko (as they should) therefore Oshie is getting lost in the shuffle...I feel comfortable saying that he -finally- looks like a 1st line winger on the ice. Were it not for his mediocre shot release/power...he might even be among the elite with his disruption and ability to create something out of nothing
...and he's easily one of the best entry players in the league.

Both are top flight defensive players...Richards just has more speed and a far superior shot which is what separates him, IMO...by the end of the year, though, this poll might be different. Oshie looks that good.

(disclaimer: I realize, Kings fans, that it's hard to evaluate how Richards looks individually this year...and Richards might very well pull away even more...just giving an insight into how Oshie has been)

A couple years ago, Richards without question.

Right now, Richards for the playoffs, Oshie for the regular season.

Give it another season or two and we may see that shift back to Richards or all the way over to Oshie. My guess is that Richards will always be a great playoff performer, but his best days are a few years behind him, while Oshie's best are ahead of him. A lot of people will understandably prefer Richards as long as he kicks ass in the playoffs, so Oshie has a lot to prove in that area.

I find it a bit strange that this poll is as close as it is when most Blues fans who have posted said they were voting for Richards. Is there a lot of dislike for Richards for some reason?
