I see guys playing within the system so I don't think he lost the room at all. The system however is broken when AV doesn't adjust against teams like the Hawks who have the game plan to counter ours. AV is also making horrible lineup decisions right now.

Agreed. A lot of those comeback losses have AV's fingerprints all over them. The team is playing his "shutdown" game (quotes intentional).

Sad part is, AV probably thinks he's a genius because of tonight's comeback.

This is my biggest reason to advocate his firing. AV has to be among the most moronically stubborn coaches in the league. How many times have we seen Raymond and Kesler fail to find any chemistry? Yet here we are one more year, trying the same bloody thing even a blind man could see is not working. The list goes on.

- Edler playing on the right side
- Not making proper use of Garrison's talent
- Breaking up our best shutdown defensive pairing after three games
- Everything about the powerplay
- Weise seeing second line minutes
- Schroeder benched

I'll never understand his thinking.

Spot on, the power play is static, the offense is predictable, the defense keeps making the same bad plays.

I remember hearing some well respected football guy say something to the affect of "A good coordinator can make a great game plan, a great coordinator can change his game plan". That statement is pretty similar to what we're encountering with our coaching staff, unable(unwilling?) to change the plan when needed to.

I can look back at every single playoff series loss in recent history(except maybe last year, that was ineptitude for a few games) and the root cause was the inability to adapt.

The Hawks having a gameplan and getting 3 breakaways, 2 during our powerplay is pretty much the best example

Newell Brown is responsible for the PP and Rick Bowness is responsible for the d-pairings (I believe).

A lot of mistakes by the coaching staff.

Just to discuss Newell Brown, I thought it was hilarious to note that our PP FINALLY clicked late in the 3rd when they shot the puck at the net, instead of feeding it to the boards to hope for some highlight reel goal.

AV is an odd coach for sure. If most people are just furious over the loss, hopefully this venting has been helpful for you.. I certainly feel critical towards AV's coaching style, but who is out there to replace him?

Two AHL head coaches who are doing a great job with what they have are Dallas Eakins and Jon Cooper.

Is it possible that the Hawks are better than we are right now? Coaching or no coaching . It was our goalie that got us a point tonight.

That and a fluke comeback.

AV has done nothing wrong and hes going to be our coach for a long time so you all should just mellow out on the firing.

Hes great at developing players. Kassian and Schroeder are rookies and they are playing great considering where they are in their careers.

AV developed , Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa, Edler, Tanev, Hansen, Raymond, Schnieder, Schroeder ............the list goes on.

We can question his line match ups when we are losing . If I have one critique of AV is he still panics too much and starts jumbling his lines up too soon when things arent going our way.

If you fire AV, then you have to hire Jon Cooper. Risky or not, he's the best guy out there and is the only guy who might turn out to be a 'generational' coach in the mold of Bowman.

He's had a similar path of success as Bowman, Hitchock, and Babcock. Interestingly enough he also didn't play hockey at a high level just like those three (and many other exceptional coaches).

I would give Dallas Eakins a job in a heartbeat.
Vigneault is the kind of guy who'd draw up a brilliant way to attack Oklahoma by boat.

A new coach might be able to do wonders with our talent. All I see is the same old, which will lead to a playoff loss.

It's his job. I'm sure he's aware of the best non-NHL coach out there. Anyway, I'm not pro or against firing AV at the moment. I've been critical of him in the past but don't really think we're at that point right now. If he does get fired it will be after making an early playoff exit (or missing them completely, which I don't think can happen).

Mentioned this before, but Cooper is also from Prince George, BC so he's a local guy.
