Regardless something has to give in the near future. Either we acquire someone for the NHL or something is swapped for the AHL.

Lander is out for at least a month now...

@NHLbyMatty
Anton lander has broken foot and is out month for EDM

They can't be playing Smyth at centre or VV for a month straight... Something has to give here.. either acquire a legit 4th line centre or go over board and get someone who can play 3rd line centre than the wing when Horcoff comes back... i.e..Brouwer.

Ideally the Oilers trade Whitney+something for a 3C and a D

I think Streit could be had if they are further out of it and don't think they can sign him again. They are sitting 10th(surprisingly) so if they are out closer to the playoffs, he could probably be had.

Streit won't be cheap though. He might be getting up there in age, but he's still quite effective.

Right now? Not at all.
Well it would only be for a few months. But it sounds like the Isle are down on Streit atm as well. I would also happily add him.

What would it cost for a Streit + Nino + Reasoner package? With Lander out we need a C.

And Oilbleeder, NYI fans on their board are talking about Streit like he's a 3rd pairing guy who won't be offered another contract. I don't think his price would be that high any more. In fact Whitney straight across might be enough.

Your confusing Streit with Strait... They are talking about Brian Strait being in the bottom pairing.. Mark Streit is 6th on their team in scoring...

Whitney, Potter, Hordi out

Boyle, Streit/Lubo in.

Of course some picks will have to be included on our end, but if we can make those adjustments I'd be happy.

Brian got a deal though, but then again who knows what Isle fans think anymore. Their Gm builds the team through waiver pickups and suspended players.

Why is Lubo's name being brought up ?? he wanted out in the first place, no chance in hell he is coming back.

No I meant Streit, the Swiss guy that has history with Krueger. And I was referring to this post.

In theory it gives Snow the cap floor flexibility to move Vis, Streit, Reasoner...all guys who will be UFA at the end of the season and will not be back here. Reasoner has no value and will just be waived. Streit and Vis could net us decent draft picks from teams that are hungry to make a playoff push and need firepower that both these players have. Streit will not get offered a contract from Snow unless it is very, very cap friendly and for 3rd pairing minutes, his game has regressed that much.
So in Snows mind, thinking ahead to letting these players walk, Thomas contract keeps us compliant this year so we can make those moves. This is a no risk move and not cap circumvention. If it was purely cap circumvention I would be just as annoyed as anyone here because I have had enough of it already. Snow better be ready to rock n' roll in the upcoming off season.
So it could be that Streit doesn't fit into their top 4 anymore.

Even few a few months after the worst for winter is over? It isn't like he's going to re-sign in the NHL, so does it really matter where he plays out his contract?

Yeah, you're right. I could've easily checked before I made my post, but for some reason I thought he shot right. A Whitney/Hamrlik deal is a lot less interesting to me now.

I stand corrected.

Lander is out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot, Horcoff likely out a similar length. RNH is holding together with hope and spit.

I think Tambo may finally have to make up his mind on that Happy Meal toy choice he's assessing and make a hockey deal here for a C shortly.

Can Hamrlik play defence? Because right now Whitney can't..

We need a centerman who could go back on the wing when our other centers comes back.
Lars Eller is struggling in Montreal and has been a healthy scratch for a few games, he can play both the wing and center, he's got a good cap hit, decent size, PKs well, would probably work well on a team trying to play a speed game and a good/perfect age going forward if things work out.
If Montreal can consider losing him he fits this team quite well. What might it take?

Probably not much. He made himself pretty unpopular after drilling Price in the jewels the other day.

Big guy. 6'2", 209 pounds. Former first round pick, 13th overall. Upside of a big-bodied physical two-way centreman. Montreal would be stupid to lose him, and if it takes "not much", you get all over that deal and do bad things to the deal paper before they're able to say no.

I'd be over the moon.
