I still like Paajarvi, one of the fastest skaters on the team today.

Who's the 3rd line mucker? Okposo? Guy barely averages over 1 hit a game.

Yeah, it gives us Streit and gets rid of Whitney. That's the important part.

If I was tambo I would offer Gagner+PRV and the Ducks 2nd for Ryan O'Reilly, he's what we need. big, physical, good on faceoffs, brings everything to the table.

What do people think of Clarke MacArthur? 20 goal 2nd/3rd liner and seems to have become expendable with the emergence of a few young guns in Toronto. He's not a miget and could provide some secondary scoring.

I like him. I've been thinking about him and actually made a post on the Toronto board.

He's essentially your prototypical 2nd liner. Average across the board. I like him because he doesn't really have alot of glaring holes in his game. He does a bit of everything. Not only that, but he scores a lot of his goals around the crease.

Problem with him is he's not super physical and a little streaky at times. He's not a bad option though.

Yeah he sure is a monster. He's a full inch, and a whopping pound more than Gagner

Some guy on Twitter (who is based in New Jersey) claims that he has a source who says that the Oilers have traded Smyth and Paajarvi to the Isles for Streit and Okposo. To be finalized following the Isles/Sabres game. Ah, Twitter.

He doesn't make sense for us. What we need is a guy with a lot of his tools, but knows his role. Can get goals around the crease, be a presence along the boards, drive to the net, and be physical. He needs to have experience too.

If he wants out of the Island, it's a chance for the Oilers to get a player like that at a reasonable cost. Low risk/high reward IMO.
Maybe Krueger could Kassian him, really explain what we need out of him and draw it out of him.

I'd prefer to take the chance he becomes a Top-6 PWF vs. our chances with Paajarvi.

If only.

Although let fly the rumours that Tamby was trying to find the Isles game on the TV but then realized it wasn't on yet.

Just looked him up on hockeydb, and he's 6"0 and 205 punds, I swear every time I see him on the ice he looks like he's 6"2/3.

I don't consider that package to be an overpayment, this team needs somebody to win faceoffs.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Gagner-XXX-Yakupov

3 seasons from now, this is 5/6 of the top 6 forwards. We need a big, physical, puck distributing Center to round things out. It doesn't need to be Mr. Wonderful - a Bobby Holik in his prime.

A guy like Colin Wilson or David Legwand from Nashville would probably fill the bill temporarily.

Columbus would probably move Umberger (as in love to) or Dubinsky. Both are making more than $4M per season with multiple years left on their deals.

All of these guys are slight upgrades on Horcoff but are also basically 2/3rd liners. 2nd liners if they're hot. 3rd liners if they're struggling.

Tomas Kopecky from the Panther (won two Cups) would be a nice third liner addition. $3M cap hit with two more years after this one.

can't see the oilers trading Smyth after he went to such lengths to get back to Edmonton
Also, adding another D-man is rather confusing. We have 8 already--So I think we might see a d-man go in the other direction

I'll be really super surprised if this guy turns out to be legit. I just thought it was funny because he randomly responded to one of my comments about Smyth looking finished.

And yeah, if true, there would have to be something else in the works as well. Too many D.

Did you see the Anger Smyth had today! Clearly angry about playing on fourth line and has demanded a trade.

Enter Ryan Whitney who has quickly gone out of favor in Oil Country. Completely different guy since the ankle injury,
