This is a very balance top 6 with more size and still a lot of skill.

I am not saying the NYI might have to add a bit but Okposo is a lot better on the dot than Gagner is and I am sure playing with Hall and Eberle he will get more points. Nino for Hemsky is pretty close. You are not going to get Nino for nothing and he gives us exactly what we need a winger with size and skill. With those 4 players being involved what do you think the NYI would have to add to make if fair then.

Okposo is a winger.

He's better on the faceoffs statisticly because he's only taken 19 all year, and if you go back in his career - he's never been a center, has never taken many faceoffs, and typically has never been good at them(sub 50%).

Okposo isn't even a centerman. He'd be yet another RWer

Speaking of College prospects and NYI, I hope the Oilers try to sign Anders Lee, seems like isles fans think he will pull a Schultz. Big C with decent offensive upside, would be welcomed depth for the org IMO.

I can't imagine it'd be all that much. IIRC they wanted to dump salary and are currently sitting last in their division. Stafford has also been struggling.

I don't think we were ever in the ROR sweepstakes. His price would be far too high for the Oilers to consider. Colorado wouldn't trade a piece like him to a division contender unless it was for a significant overpay.

That would have to be some draft pick. Like CBJ's 1st. I can't see any other reason to make this team worse than it already is.

Unless it involves Philly. If it has something to do with the Flyers he's generally right. He does have connections with that team, I gotta give him that much.

One of the best things Oilers could do in long term, is trading Hemsky for a good 2nd/3rd line center and maybe getting a decent bottom pairing guy to boot. He's been healthy and has another year in his contract, so you'll be selling high. Plus, there are good wingers in FA to fill his spot (Clowe, Horton, Semin, Clarkson, Perry...). Outside Getzlaf, all decent FA centers are way past their 30th birthdays. So if you want three good centers, you have to get one via trade.

Probably Brassard isn't the guy,but there aren't many good low cap-hit centres out there. Brodziak comes to mind but he's Minnesota's best one behind Koivu. And let's face it, you're not getting O'Reilly. He will re-sign eventually or will be traded to the East.

Edit.

I changed my mind. After seeing Toronto playing against the Canadiens, Edmonton seriously needs similar 4th line. You know, couple of bruisers to play 5-10 minutes per game and to look after the young guns. No one is going to try cheap shot Eberle when you have Bickell-Rinaldo-Orr out there. And I agree with Don Cherry, every Maple Leaf is playing a foot taller since they have the Three Amigos (McLaren, McClement, Orr) watching their backs.

There is no long term benefit to trading Hemsky for Brassard. Both players are UFAs at the end of next season and Hemsky gives you FAR superior play over that time. Brassard at this point is neither a 2nd line center on this team (Both RNH and Gagner would be ahead of him on the depth chart) or a low cap-hit center (exactly the same as Gagner's). In fact, if you're looking for value contracts at any position, Columbus is the last place to look.

I agree that the UFA market isn't where we're going to be adding players, but there are still better ways to find a #3C and a 3rd pairing LD than giving up Hemsky and Paajarvi.

eklund tweeeted it has fallen a part

Shocked I tell ya shocked

There are a few NYI blogs around and when they are not bashing Wang, they usually have some clue to what is going on with the team. A few f them had thomas going to NYI once the new CBA is in place-- none of them are saying they have any reports of a trade with the oilers. THEy are suggesting that the NYI are trying to move our buddy Lube

Move Hemsky, MPS and a draftpick for a quality defender.
Bring back Omark, as a cheap substitute for Ales.

Question: Any chance we can land Edward Pasquale from Winnipeg as a potential Yann Danis replacement for next season? I'm not sure Hovinen or Bunz or Roy get the job done, and Pasquale could end up being our backup
