What are realistic expectations for one of the Buffalo defensemen to L.A.?

Kings would interested in, although none may be available, Weber, Myers, Brennan, or Leopold.

Myers would be asking a lot. The others are available.

That seems to be the MO of the Hawks since 20, try to pass too much and be physically dominated. Ennis would meet those criteria

Gladly.

Ennis is a shifty scoring C that has a great contract. Miller is a overrated, aging goaltender that is a UFA in a year, plus the Sabres have 2 pretty good G prospects coming up (Makarov and Ullmark)

Id be glad to trade him and get some secondary offense

For Winnipeg I would think guys like Weber or Sekera would be of possible interest (price dependent obviously)

Current injuries. Weber's a RFA after this year, so he'd do fine as a fill-in. And he might be low-cost.

And guys like Ennis, Stafford, and Weiss (IOW, "the usual suspects" ) would be nice to add, but not necessarily to trade for.

I understand we have injuries but I think they are going to stick it out for a week until Nikitin gets back. I have faith in our young guys to keep it under control for now. What do you think they'd want for Ennis? Probably need a d if Wiz is out long term.

Rielly is a fantastic prospect, but he's yet to play a single game in the NHL. If you think the sabres are going to trade a 23 year old calder winner within the division for less than Rielly + your kidding yourself and are completely overrating an unproven prospect. Typical for HF boards...

Is Ellerby available? Could see the Rangers maybe having some interest.

So Myers is worth the 1st overall pick in 2013 because he has played NHL games.

Gotcha!

With the way he's played this year in Manchester, I doubt it, but Stoll on the other hand...

ha ha. ha ha ha...

everyone is lining up to get your 5'5 winger give your head a shake

Ennis is absolutely available to any team for a piece that will get the Sabres closer to being a contender. Ennis is precisely the type of player you sell high on for a player like O'Reilly--if Colorado is foolish enough to make him available--because you don't win Stanley Cups with one-way, offense-only, 5'9'', 170 lb centers in your top-6.

Nine games in, and Ennis Fanboy Kool-Aid is already overflowing. Tyler Ennis untouchable for 28 NHL teams? On what planet?

Ennis is a curious player to me. Watching him, he has the skating, hands, and vision. Tons of pure talent. Of course, size and ability to play well in a physical game are under scrutiny. However, his underlying numbers are a bit suspect, as he's put up good counting numbers largely on the back of inflated shooting percentages and butter-soft minutes.

What stops him from being a top-6 player? Seems to me, watching him, that he should be able to hack it on an offensively oriented 2nd line.

Yeah because that's exactly what I said... honestly dude I'm not even going to get into this any further with you. I understand Toronto is rebuilding and wouldn't want to move Reilly, but Buffalo isn't moving their franchise defender to a division rival for "fair value" it would take an overpayment.

Well, that's not the case this season. He's playing the toughest minutes in QualComp of any Sabres center, and he has the lowest percentage of offensive-zone starts of any Sabres center. And, frankly, he can't handle it. He needs those softer minutes with higher offensive-zone start numbers, but Ruff is on the record that he wants Ennis to take Roy's role as their all-situations, two-way center. But, as I said, he's not ready for it, nor do I think he will be any time in the near future.

He can hack it on an offensively-oriented 2nd line. He did last year when he was 13th in the NHL in ES pts/60 mins, but that was with those softer minutes and more offensive-zone starts. But he can't hack it as a two-way, all-situations center. At least not yet.

His natural abilities in the offensive zone are intoxicating--hence all the "OMGZ, no way you trade Ennis" posters--but he's not a guy who's going to lead you anywhere worth going as long as he's in the role the Sabres are trying to force him into.
