On the Clowe disallowed goal:

Agreed.

I was in the arena and heard the ref blowing his whistle and waving his arms while Clowe was still halfway into the zone. I think Clowe heard it, too, but decided he was going to finish out the play anyway.....goalie definitely heard it and didn't give his all after the whistle.

Weak penalty call, but yeah it only cost a prime scoring chance, not a definite goal.

well from the GIF we don't see a distinct kicking motion. Maybe from a different angle.

Yes, the NHL has had problems with kicking goals in the past. This is not one of those cases.

a : to strike, thrust, or hit with the foot

People seem to think just because the puck deflected off the skate at the end it's not a kick. All that's required for it to be a kick is an intentional forward thrust which obviously occurs here. It's not like he's gonna catch it in the laces and punt the stupid thing.

Even though I am a Canes fan, and agree with the call, I have to admit that there aren't a lot of "neutral" fans when it comes to the Leafs.

You can maybe blame Hockey Night in Canada for that.

Don't forget Leafs play by play guy. ..... went from sure goal to yeah I think that was a kicking motion when he finally got to see the right angles.

What does it matter if its accidental... kicking motion is still kicking motion.

Watch the back leg. Puck seems to hit front skate first but then trailing skate comes along and kicks it in.

based on that gif above the puck was traveling across the crease, deflects away from the goal off the left skate, then did a 180 of the right skate and sped towards the goal. The goalward momentum came from the right skate. The right skate provided the momentum, not a deflection. It was not intentional but still "kicked" in.

The Hossa one was a deliberate kick, shocking it was not called a kick and no goal.

The NHL has made mistakes before though. I recall a time when Eberle tried to go skate to stick and whiffed, but the puck went in anyway. The refs made a new rule on the spot that he didn't intend to do it.

Yes, I see it now, hits the left leg, comes towards the right and he kicks it in it seems. although it can be argued that it was a stopping motion

The first time I saw that replay, I said out loud "they never rule that kind of goal off, he didn't kick it". So I get what some of the Leaf fans are thinking here.

But after seeing the overhead, it's pretty clear that his back foot comes forward and kicks it in the net. The overhead replay is key.

Yup. The rules don't care if it's accidental.

If that's a kicking motion Bozak should tryout for the Canadian soccer team.

If he didn't try and stop, would have been goaltender interference. Can't win. Don't care about being ********. He was stopping, if he didn't turn his skate like that, he wouldn't have been able to stop and would have flown right into Ward, then we would have another controversy altogether.

I constantly see the same threads over and over. Everyone wants to kill the refs. The NHL is clearly trying to eliminate goalie interferance and dangerous play. Fighting though is still alive and well.
Silverberg on the otherhand is guilty as charge and the right call was made
