Mike Pettine is the new Browns head coach

Quote:
CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Twenty four days and at least a dozen interviews later, it appears that the Cleveland Browns may have a new head coach.

Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine Jr.

Bleacher Report’s Will Burge reported Thursday morning that Pettine will fly into Cleveland at around 12:30 and his third “interview” will be a contract negotiation. If the two sides reach an agreement, he will be named the 15th full-time head coach in franchise history and the seventh hired by the team since 1999.

A Browns spokesman called the report “false” and said that the, “Browns have not made a decision. A Decision may or may not happen today.”

Bills fans aren't going to like this. Pettine is a good coach (well coordinator anyway).

Browns expected to offer their HC job to Bills DC Mike Pettine, per multiple league sources, via @mortreport and me. Need to work out deal.

Poor Pettine.

Which is why everyone is rejecting them and they are now on option #98290

At this point, whoever wants their head coaching job can have it.

***** for us but the browns got a great coach.

If they get a QB and RB, they are my pick for the AFC North title

I understand why Pettine is taking job

Not only does he get to be a NFL HC but the Browns are so dysfunctional that if he fails there he has a ready built in excuse (A viable one) so it wont hurt him when he tries to get another job

They thought you might actually do a good job.

Screw you Browns for taking Pettine...he's a great defensive coach but having only spent 1 year in Buffalo hard for me to judge whether he will be a good head coach. I suppose Jets fans can chime in.

Mike Pettine was the head coach of the high school around the corner from me, although it was before I lived here. He was also head coach of North Penn when ESPN followed him for "the Season" like 15 years ago

Hiring a defensive coach,

uhhhh, I don't know about that,

Isn't there talk that they might even try to trade up if they can't get Manziel where they are. Why not get a qb guru? The defense is already top 10.
