None of your top 4 would bring you Carey Price.

I wouldn't give you Subban for Yakupov, one of the other three yes.

Edmonton wouldn't give you Yakupov for Subban either. Who do you value more:

Galchenyuk+

or

Subban

Right now? Subban. In the future? Who knows, but probably Chucky. But Neither are going anywhere right now, Yak or no.

Carey isn't going anywhere either. We're happy with all of them. They're (along with Patches) our young nucleus. No desire to move any of them, just like Edmonton has no desire to move their big-5 (I added J. Schultz).

Kuleman could be a great option, buy low on a guy that has put up big numbers before and the best thing is that you don't have to give up important assets to acquire him.

perhaps Ryan Clowe? He is a free agent after this season. I think san jose would be foolish to move him but he'd definitely give your s'mors protection.

Not to derail the thread anymore than it is but we were discussing trade value and I think Galchenyuk+ aka Yakupov has more value on the market than Subban (considering age, development, upside, contract, etc and ignoring team needs).

As for Edmonton's top six needing grit, take a look at this summers UFA crop:

Horton, Clarkson, Morrow, Iginla, Horton, Getzlaf, Perry

Some of them are pipe dreams and some will be resigned but there's top six forwards with grit with the possible exception of Morrow who may not be considered a top six guy at this juncture anymore.

Clowe would be ideal because he can and will fight anyone and he'd allow Yakupov to move over to his natural position assuming he replaces Hemsky. Sharks fans seem to be torn as to whether or not he'll be resigned. If he makes it to July 1st he probably rakes upwards of 4 million which is a steep pricetag.

What are you talking about? We have, up the middle:

RNH
Gagner
Horcoff
Belanger
Lander

That's decent for MOST clubs. We could use a size upgrade at 2C maybe, but Gagner's been a PPG player on the 2nd line.

I think a Clb-Edm swap with Foligno+Dorsett going to Edmonton for Hemsky+Hordichuk might work out for both teams.

Nor would we want him. In my opinion, Carey Price is the 9th best goalie in the league after Quick, Lundqvist, Rask, Schneider, Rinne, Luongo, Backstrom, and Lehtonen. And his stats are only marginally better than Dubnyk right now, and only by the tiniest of margins last year.

Why would we trade any of our top 4 to get a marginal upgrade in goal?

Price has less value than Galchenyuk, Subban, or Pacioretty to be honest with you. And I can't imagine one of the top 4 we have being traded for any of those guys, so for Price? You're dreaming.

I'm not saying dump, I'm just saying that his value is low right now and they could get him for much less than when he got 30 goals.

You could try for Kyle Clifford?

Young, not fully established, but could become a top-6 guy.

Only other options I could think of (that don't involve core pieces) would be Kyle Beach and Eric Tangradi as "reclamation projects".

Not the power forward type you're looking for.

Wow still a back up but Schneider manages to make the top 10 goalie list....

Meh, playing behind Luongo isn't a reflection of his talent.

Although I would have Price hovering around my top-5

Top 6 power forwards are very hard to come by, so teams are reluctant to let them go. Guys like Clowe rarely reach the UFA market. Kulemin is not a power forward.

The payment for a real top 6 power forward would be higher than what Oiler fans would want to pay.

Weiss would be a great addition to the Oilers. They are dangerously thin at center, having depth is very important.

If you have been watching the Oilers you should know Gagner has been very good this year. Has a point in every game this season.

No seriously. Whats your "+".
Like I said, it'd be a pretty big +.

I'd offer Simmonds + B. Schenn + Meszaros for Hall or Yak

or Simmonds + Both Schenns for Hall/Yak + Gagner

EDIT: I apologize on the second one if Gagner's value has suddenly shot up based on his hot start. If so, then forget the 2nd proposal.

Given how Foligno has looked in his first few games here, we're reluctant to move him.

Given how Dorsett has done basically from career start to present, we'll trade him for fair market value shortly after the Sun explodes.

It also doesn't help that Dorsett actually contributes goals here and there (he's been good for 4 goals per season each season, with the exception of last year in which he had three times that ), which is something that Hordichuk doesn't exactly contribute well. Hordichuk would be a complete waste of roster space here.

It's not bad for us per se (Hemsky would be great to have), but I suspect we wouldn't go for it.
