I'm assuming he makes a significant amount more in Europe then he does here, while playing a much more depended on role. Does he stay to continue playing 4th line minutes making approx 1.2 million a year?
I'm thinking he does stay, he seems to have the personality that would be attracted to being on the big stage. Obviously I hope he stays but I can see him being drawn home again, after all he did wait a long time before making the jump.
Prior to the season, he said he didn't want retire and be asked why he never played in the NHL. He wanted to prove he could play in the top league in the world.
He's done that and seems to have enjoyed himself too, but he's an exceptionally popular player in Moscow and KHL teams will likely offer him quite a bit more money than the Leafs could offer a player of his calibre (3rd/4th liner).
I think he stays, but the staying/going odds are probably close to 50/50.
How much more can the KHL pay for a non marqee player? I would not think he makes $2 million over there. I would like him back, just to see if he could improve. If he just dialed back the hitting a bit so he wasn't pulling himself out of the play as much I think he would have decent offense.
I would like to see him stay, as I consider myself a Leo Komarov guy. I can't say for certain how much money I'd be comfortable with the Leafs paying him to stay, but I'd rather have him as a bottom 6 millionaire than Colton Orr.
