Well, you might enjoy seeing Vatanen. With Fowler out, he'll get his second game, and offensively he's quite sharp. He's a very dynamic offensive talent. Defensively, I think you guys would manhandle him. We'll see how that goes. I'm a bit nervous though. Anaheim might have been the better team last time at even strength, but you were missing some pretty good puck movers(and Boyle is certainly better than pretty good). Now it's Anaheim missing a key player, and primary puck mover. Fowler has really been something for Anaheim this season too. He just seems to have hit a completely new level in his game. I'm crossing my fingers that this isn't a setback for him. The Ducks really need the game he's bringing right now.
If San Jose comes hard on the forecheck, the Ducks could have a lot of trouble getting clean breakouts at even strength, and their special teams have been crap. If the Ducks can't stay with the Sharks tonight at even strength, the team had better have a real big night on special teams, or I don't like our chances.

It's definitely not because he isn't playing well. The points just haven't been coming yet, and not for lack of chances.
I think the nhl messed up on that play. Stoll saw the numbers and is a guy who boards people a lot (Ian White/playoffs). He grabbed Fowler's jersey then drove his shoulder into his back. Dumb, reckless play that went unpunished.
Pollak is suggesting Greiss vs Viktor Fasth in goal; backups cancel each other out? Also, maybe Brad Staubitz in for Smith-Pelley. Smith-Pelley has no NHL goals; bullet dodged. So...
Hopefully the sharks come out with a little more passion than I've seen the last few games. I do not want to see another Shootout since three in a row is already too much.
Sharks: 2
Ducks: 3
Sharks goals: Thornton, Couture
Ducks Goals: Getzlaf x2, Perry

This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw the hit. Stoll's done this type of thing before.

Sharks are always giving up first career goals, so I wouldn't be surprised if Vatanen (or Etem - if he hasn't already) puts one in.
The team just hasn't been as crisp as we were in the first 4 games. Pucks are bouncing on guys, bad passes, etc. Maybe we've played better teams (or the teams have played better lately, like Edmonton in round 2), but the games have been much more competitive recently. I expect that to continue tonight.*
