Justin Williams to NJ

He currently lives in Jersey. What would it take?

Kings could use a LHD and the Devils need some top-6 help.

I do like the offer but the only way i see la trading williams is if we get a better 1st winger back or have another trade set up where we do ( ie iginla or someone like him ) Also there would be a first not a second

I don't think we could give a 1st. We host the draft this year and we have to give one up by 2014. 2020 1st and Tallinder?

Sorry i think the kings would turn this down. They would need that first to be this year which i understand why you cant give it but that would be the starting point of the trade. Also they wouldnt have a replacement for williams ready yet Come back when toffoilli has some nhl experience and looks ready to replace him think late next year.

A first round pick for a guy who has scored 22 goals each of the last two seasons?

A guy who was obtained for a bust and a 2nd rounder who hasn't come anywhere close to matching his career highs in 2006 is now worth a 1st???? Sounds absurd to me?

I like Clarkson. His style of play will fit perfectly in our system. What will it take to get him?

Yes he isnt scoreing like he did on the hurricanes but hes playing on a uberly defensive team and is a 1st line player. Soild defence and good chemistry with kopitar . On one of the best contractsin the nhl for what he brings. When he was aquired he was a injury risk now hes proven he isnt made of glass his value goes up simple as that. Don't like it don't trade for him La has no reason to trade him as a matter of fact won't trade him unless the is a person waiting to take his spot and right now theres not/

I would imagine it would cost a lot.

And when you consider Clarkson has as many goals as anyone on the Kings has points this season and he is coming off a 30 goal season it would probably cost the moon.

I'm not saying he is worthless, I'm saying his value hasn't gone up since the Kings acquired him for a bust pick and 2nd...You're talking a top 4 NHL defenseman in Tallinder and a 1st, which is significantly higher value than what you got him for

Equivalent value from the Devils would be something like Mattias Tedenby and 2nd or 3rd not Tallinder and a 1st.

at the time patty o wasnt a bust he was a young winger with upside the trade. he had 54 points in his first fullseason and had 37 in 62 games. Not La fault he turned into a bust after we traded him . The kings was in a 3 way trade with cole in it as well . Williams was hurt with a shoulder injury i belive and which if you think about it would lower his value alot. As most thing s on the hf board 200 ft players dont get the recognition they deserve. I never once said i wanted Tallinder and a first i said that talks for him would start with a 1st If you dont think hes worth a first simply dont trade

Different type of players, different scenario.

3rd line Cs with intangible have seemingly absurd trade values nowadays. See Moore for a second round pick.

A guy like Williams is going to get something like Setoguchi.

Williams or Setoguchi for Tallinder is pretty fair, although again it's arguable, but I'd add a pick or prospect to that as well. If you're asking for a trade from the Devils, don't expect a first round pick, it's not happening.

I can't see us trading him at all. He has chemistry with Kopitar, and our prospects aren't ready to step up to take his place. He is signed to a reasonable deal as well and is highly regarded in the locker room. It wouldn't make sense for LA to move him unless we were trading for a similar winger in return, and then there wouldn't be any point at all, might as well keep Williams. Just wouldn't work.

So now he is worth more than any kings forward.

Clarkson is more valuable to the Devils than he is elsewhere, especially when we are lacking forward depth.

Nothing the Kings offer for Clarkson would interest us, for both of those reasons.

I don't see what's wrong with that. Is Clarkson not outscoring everyone on the Kings right now?

He doesn't say he's a better player than anyone on the Kings, or more valuable, just that you would have to give up stupid value for New Jersey to consider even entertaining your offers. And that's 100% true.
