Vanek

regardless if it's a fair trade or not. The Coyotes aren't in a position to take on ~ $5mil.

Leopold and Vanek make a combined 10 million. Vanek is only signed for one more season, and Leopold is set to become a UFA.

Yandle is signed for 3 more, and that pick could be a high one depending on how the lack of depth shakes out.

Coyotes probably say no, only because they wouldn't be able to retain Vanek. No one to pass to him either.

All we need is the Hanzal talk to start up again.

Coyotes are basically at dollar for dollar right now, and have no one who is under-performing vs what they earn. This team is also pretty young still, so trading for a 29 year old expensive Vanek (who would have no one to play with) doesn't make much sense, even if they could swing it financially.

Well with that in mind would yandle still be available for a younger/cheaper package? Ennis++ likely

The Sabres don't have the type of center that would interest the Coyotes enough to trade Yandle.

The problem we have in every Yandle thread is that the Coyotes are not looking to deal him unless it is for an overpayment. So for you to try and propose fair value is kind of pointless. If the Sabres and Coyotes, for whatever reason, executed a Yandle trade I'd have to think that Grigorenko or Hodgson is going the other way. The Coyotes need/want a solid young center in the worst way possible. At the same time, the rumor was that they passed on Gagner and MPS, who still had value at the time. So we are talking a painful trade for anyone that wants him.

With Ennis, Girgensons, Grigorenko, Armia and Hodgson, the Sabres definitely have appealing pieces. But I'm not sure that the price is right, so to speak.
