This defensive positioning was why coach Vineault had so much difficulty with Cody Hodgson, not Booth. AV demands his players stay on the defensive side of the puck. Hodgson was very poor at that, and his coach didn't trust him. That's why he was traded. And look at him now in Buffalo. He's putting up points (which is nice) but at what cost on the defensive side of the game? The younger Oiler players are similar to Hodgson. When they have the puck, they are fine. It's when they need to be responsible defensively, that the problems show up. It's a maturation process, that most young players go through.
