Will try and update with lines tomorrow, but not sure if I'll be able to. If I can't, hopefully one of the other mods can edit lineups into the OP.

That thread was for pre-game talk. This one is for game day talk. Posting it early because I'm not sure I'll be around in time to post it closer to game-time.

I still don't see any Murray mind trickery.

Burke: Kadri. We're going to take him. Did you want him?

Murray: Yeah.

Burke: We're going to take him.

Walks away.

Oliver Stone couldn't make a conspiracy out of that.

Le buzzkill. The real story of Burke telling him he'd pick Kadri making Murray leave or overpay is a boring story. Shame.

No Einstein, people like to say that Murray wanted Burke to think he wanted Kadri so that we could pick Cowen.

Nobody knows who Murray really wanted, what we do know is he valued Cowen more than Paajarvi, although Cowen was projected to go top 5 if I recall correctly before his injury.

After Kadri there really isn't much offensive prospects I would have been thrilled to get (in hindsight), so who knows what Murray wanted but I think he got the best player available at that pick and I'm happy to have Cowen apart of this team going forward.

Leafs fans love to spin this as Burke playing Murray. Fact is we'll never know what Murray truly wanted. Rumours may have been intentionally leaked. If it was Kadri that Murray wanted, the Leafs had the higher pick so big deal.

The real comedy is that Burke is such a blowhard that he answers his own question allowing Murray an out by answering yes. Whether that was honest or if inside he was secretly giggling about Cowen, we'll never know. The only fact is that Burke has a big ego and an even bigger mouth.

This. It was the weirdest exchange ever. Burke seemed to be talking just to hear himself talk when he held a position of power. Maybe he wasn't willing to trade his pick if Murray wanted Kadri, but wasn't very elegant trying to feel out Murray's intention. Murray seemed interested in making a trade, because he started to say, "OK, we'll give you..." When Burke cut him off. Kind of pointless.

Yeah. Burke never even allowed Murray to make an offer. Who knows, maybe Murray was willing to offer 2 firsts and a second.
