Clarke MacArthur

With frattins play as of late and when lupul comes back from his injury, MacArthur become expendable. What kind of return can this guy get?

Mid to late second round draft pick maybe. I wouldn't say his value is exactly high at the moment.

would versteeg value be out of the question from when they got a 1st and 3rd out of someone battling for top in their division ?

i mean its a smaller sample with macarthur only playing in 6 games ... but i dont think that would be out of the question .. particularly if you throw some conditional aspect on the first?

macarthur

for

conditional 1st - becomes 2nd if team misses playoffs/eliminated before 2nd round
3rd rounder

Yeah, I think there would be a few teams willing to pick him up somewhere around that asking price

hard time on this site detecting sarcasm haha

i'd say there would be a couple willing to pay this depending what other options are out there obviously ... depends on many factors, whether they think they can resign him, the depth of the forward market, the number of teams looking for a forward

its just a somewhat comparable deal the leafs have made in recent years with somewhat comparable players

Forgot that they didn't have that 1st anymore. I don't really watch a lot of LA games but who would he replace on the kings roster. They seem pretty crammed on the wings

I dunno. Seems to me the problem is the other team has solid goaltending, Leafs do not.

with penner and gagne both free agents I would try and trade both but id have to make sure mac would have some sorta chemistry with carter richards. I would however like to ask if Mac has played any rw cause i think he would be perfect for stoll and clifford.

Reimer isn't the problem. Kessel hasn't scored and Mike Kostka is on the top pairing.

They miss Gardiner and Lupul. Goaltending isn't the problem.

I'm not as harsh as you are. I think the fact we have to rotate him in and out of the lineup its best for his play but i think he would be the first to go. we have 6 nhl lws and its nuts to see them go in and out trying to get everyone playing time. Hopefully he could net us a replacement defenseman to get us to april ish when greene should be back.

He's never played on the rw much at all. I remember a few games were he's played there but not that much.

well till we can open a spot on the left side he would be on the 3rd line rw with stoll and clifford but in time he would proberly end up with richard and carter.

I'd do a 2nd or a 3rd and one of Sauve/Raymond/Rodin

2nd round pick + 4th round pick
Turns into a 1st if the team makes it to the SCF

Versteeg was an RFA at the end of the year when he got traded to Philly which means his value was quite a bit more. Versteeg also had shown in Chicago he could kill penalties and be a real pain to play against which is an asset teams really look for come playoff time.

CMac is a UFA at the end of the year and has only shown he can be succssful in a scoring line role, doesn't ever kill penalties and is average at best defensively.

The opportunity to get a 1st rounder was last year. We're looking at a 2nd rounder now and if we're lucky a mid-round pick (4th/5th) just like Kostitsyn got traded for at the deadline last year.

i think to move macarthur at this point would be foolish for the leafs unless it was a 1st rounder straight up. in a short season there isnt the time to make up games if a team struggles due to injuries. i understand that this is considered a strong draft so i would be fine with the pick being a 1st for the 2014 draft.

considering that carlyle gave mac an "A" id say he is pretty fond of him. not to say he wont get moved but i dont think there is a reason to move mac for anything short of a late 1st.

leafs could easily roll;

lupul bozak kessel
kulemin grabs mac
jvr kadri frattin
brown mclemment komorov

Greiss+3rd if they need a goalie, but idk if he's a starter yet

That or Murray+3rd, or depending on if the Leafs have another 2nd/3rd line tweener with wheels, more could be added.
